SIG Sauer Cross STX rifle, the latest “hybrid crossover” variant

Introduced by SIG Sauer in 2020, the Cross was SIG's first precision bolt-action rifle since the 1990s and entirely manufactured in the USA, keeps evolving. 

The SIG Sauer Cross STX features a 20”/508 mm precision barrel and a full-length Picatinny top rail.

The first addition came in 2022 and was the Cross-PRS built specifically for long range, precision rifle competition and featuring a 24” barrel instead of the 18” or 16” barrel of the original variant. The new “tacticalized” Cross STX from SIG Sauer, the latest evolution in the series, is described as a “hybrid crossover”. It takes in fact many parts/details from the PRS version but in a lighter configuration featuring a middle-length 20”/508 mm precision barrel, full-length Picatinny top rail, thumb-rest safety selector, PRS-style grip, AR-style controls ergonomics.

The stock of the SIG Sauer Cross STX is foldable and adjustable.

“The Cross STX is the result of input the from professional end-users looking for extreme performance in a lightweight, long-range platform,” they say at SIG. The Cross was designed from the start as a modular design, and the STX variant uses in fact the same receiver and stock as the standard Cross, but with the addition of some tactical features starting from the 20” heavy barrel equipped with an SLH/SLX suppressor-ready flash hider in QD configuration and the free float MLOK handguard with full length 20 MOA top rail. This means that you have a one-piece rail extending from the rear of the rifle up to the front of the handguard, ready for the mounting of scopes, night vision or any other accessory you want.

The ambidextrous external paddle release of the SIG Sauer Cross STX
is located inside the trigger guard.

To detach the AICS-type 10-round magazine you must operate an ambidextrous external paddle release.  

The folding precision stock has an adjustable cheek rest and Length-of-Pull (LOP), and when folded the rifle's overall length is just 30 inches (762 mm). The two-stage match trigger is adjustable too.

The new SIG Sauer Cross STX is available in 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Win., both with 20” barrel.
