SIG SAUER introduced the new semi-automatic pistol during its SIG NEXT event. Called the SIG SAUER P385, the striker-fired handgun is built around two key components: a modular FCU (Fire Control Unit) and the new SRDS (SIG Recoil Dampening System). Combined with a low bore axis, the system is designed to significantly reduce both felt recoil and muzzle rise.
According to SIG SAUER, muzzle rise is reduced by 20% or more, depending on the P385 configuration.
The new fire-control system also incorporates the SIG SAUER Trigger Block, designed to provide a smooth, clean trigger press. Unlike the relatively prominent trigger-safety blade found on some striker-fired pistols, SIG’s Trigger Block sits almost flush with the face of the trigger. The stated goal is to provide consistent pressure throughout the trigger stroke, a clean break and a clearly perceptible reset.
Another new feature is the wraparound MagStrap, which allows the shooter to alter grip length and circumference, as well as trigger reach, without replacing the entire grip module. Its laser-engraved ReActive texture is designed to provide a secure hold on the pistol.
SIG SAUER P385, a new generation of striker-fired pistols
The P385 uses a carbon-steel barrel, measuring 4 inches on the Carry version. All variants feature fully ambidextrous controls, while a thumb-operated manual safety is available as an option.
The P385 uses standard P320 magazines. SIG SAUER notes that when using older P320 magazines equipped with rounded baseplates, the P385’s magazine well must first be removed.
The pistol comes standard with XRAY3 day/night sights, while the slide is also optics-ready. The SIG LOC PRO interface allows direct mounting of red-dot sights using either the RMR or DPP footprint, without the need for an adapter plate.
“The new SIG SAUER P385 was developed from the ground up,” said Eric McKenzie, SIG SAUER Director of Commercial Product Management. “We are driven to innovate, and the P385 opens a new chapter in performance, accuracy and innovation through a number of new features.”
The P385 is available in black and Coyote Brown. The lineup includes the P385-MACH3D, P385-COMP, P385-FULL, P385-CARRY and P385-COMPACT.
For the P385-MACH3D, which features the company’s MACH3D compensator, SIG SAUER claims a reduction in muzzle rise of more than 30% compared with a standard pistol.
SIG SAUER says the first P385 pistols will begin reaching U.S. dealers this fall and into early winter 2026; pricing starts at approximately $599, with the P385 Carry carrying an MSRP of $679.99. Pricing for the remaining variants had not yet been fully announced at the time of writing.
