The legendary German company SAUER & Sohn had announced two new bolt-action hunting rifles back at SHOT Show 2016 in Las Vegas. With their presentation at the IWA 2016, the SAUER S100 and the SAUER S404 Synchro XTC will now also be entering the German market. We were lucky to be able to see both bolt-action rifles in action and test them out for ourselves before the IWA at the 4th International RWS Shooting Day.
With the low-cost SAUER S101 bolt-action rifle, SAUER & Sohn set a milestone for entry-level bolt-action rifles. Now, with the S100, SAUER has managed to outdo itself! The Classic XT version of this bolt-action rifle with a polymer stock is available starting at 1,190 euros (RRP). And the rifle is also jam-packed with the best technology: cold hammer forged barrel, tri-position sear safety, patented EverRest action bedding, single-stage trigger that is infinitely adjustable from the outside (1,100 to 2,200 grams) as well as the time-tested ErgoMax butt stock geometry. The S100 is also available with a wooden stock in a "Classic" version. Its RRP is 1,340 euros.
SAUER S404 Synchro XTC
SAUER & Sohn proves that it is also able to provide a premium product with its new flagship S404 model. The SAUER S404 Synchro XTC possesses an elegant thumbhole stock made of carbon with a height-adjustable cheek rest. The stock was crafted by hand from high-tech material, and reduces the weight of the bolt-action rifle to just 2.8 kg.
With its fluted barrel with muzzle thread, the Synchro XTC embodies the ultimate bolt-action rifle for stalking, and it is not only ambitious mountain hunters who are impressed by this fine weapon. This is because, thanks to the shock-absorbing properties of carbon, SAUER's new rifle shoots like a charm and as smoothly as silk. The RRP for the S404 Synchro XTC luxury bolt-action rifle is 5,995 euros. Naturally, it is also possible to purchase the carbon stock set individually.
