Remington 700 SPS Tactical

Remington 700 SPS Tactical
The safety lever of the Remington 700 has two positions. In the most forward position it is on "F" as in "ready to fire". On "S" as in "safe", the lever can only be set if the rifle is cocked

Equipped with the proven and stabile 700 system, the chamber of the Remintgton 700 SPS Tactical also locks into the solid steel receiver housing. This takes up the barrel of the rifle, nearly 21.5 millimeter thick at the muzzle (heavy barrel). Compared with the usual thin tubes on many hunting rifles, this fat piece can handle significantly more shots before heating up.

Apart from this barrel and the stock, there is no technical difference between the SPS Tactical and the Remington 700 VTR. For the stock they use a polymer stock with a rubber cover from Hogue.

By the way:"SPS" stands for Special Purpose Synthetic and refers to the robust plastic stock made especially for service use. And that is what the completely black overmolded stock of the test rifle looks like. It feels good and offers the hands an excellent grip thanks to various large, dot-shaped "dabs" on the fore-end and pistol grip.

At the rear end of the stock sits a relatively soft rubber cap. That, in combination with the weight of the rifle deriving from the heavy barrel, makes for a quite comfortable recoil behavior of the Remington SPS Tactical.

Like all the new 700 models, this one also comes with an X-Mark-Pro trigger which can be adjusted from the right. This trigger, set accordingly, delivers characteristics suited to a match rifle and can certainly fulfill hunting requirements.

The two-lug bolt typical for the 700 series. It lies on the pistol grip of the Hogue stock, which comes with a nonslip rubber covering

Range of uses for the REMINGTON 700 SPS Tactical
