New Bergara Premier Competition Rifle, the “competitive advantage”

“As close to custom as it gets, but with standardized features for greater efficiencies in parts production and assembly” – this is how Bergara describes its Premier rifle series. Add to this that the new Premier Competition Rifle is introduced as “the most accurate and highest-performing production class PRS style Bergara rifle that exists”. Available in the most popular competition calibers such as 6.5 Creedmoor (shipping now in the US) and 6 Creedmoor (shipping late summer) for both Production and Tactical PRS classes, the new model is claimed to be competition-ready right out of the box.

Bergara Premier Competition Rifle, performance and accuracy

The 10-round detachable magazine

With an aggressive Graphite Black Cerakote finish, the new Bergara Premier Competition Rifle boasts a lot of “competition” features indeed. Starting with the MPA BA Competition Chassis, specifically designed to give shooters a competitive advantage when shooting in long-range tactical rifle competitions, such as the PRS. Or the 3-in-1 Arca Swiss rail, that allows for easy and fast adjustments – it also includes a screw hole for common camera tripod adapter and allows for Picatinny bipod mounting/adjusting. At the front you find a night vision bridge, too. It goes without saying that the stock is fully adjustable. Integrated QD flush cup sling mounts are in the forend and buttstock. As for the trigger, thanks to Bergara's partnership with TriggerTech, the patented Frictionless Release Technology increases performance and accuracy by eliminating creep and heavy pull weights.

The fluted bolt
The fluted bolt features a a dual ejector system.

Being stiffer, the 26”/66 cm heavy profile stainless steel barrel is more stable. It also takes longer to heat up and provides consistent accuracy even when heated up. In this regard, it should be noted that all Bergara Premier Series rifles are guaranteed to produce groups of 1.0 MOA or less at 100 yards with quality factory match grade ammunition. The  5/8-24 threaded muzzle includes a thread protector. Twist is 1:8 in 6.5 Creedmoor and 1:7.5 in 6 Creedmoor. For improved reliability when cycling the action, the fluted bolt comes with a dual ejector system. The 10-round detachable magazine provided is AICS compatible. You'll need a scope, of course: scope mount fits Remington 700 bases with 8-40 screws.

MSRP in the US is $2499 for both the 6.5 Creedmoor and 6 Creedmoor versions.
