Retay RXP 22, an inexpensive and feature-rich .22 training pistol

Retay Arms is a Turkish gun manufacturing brand founded in 2006. Their newest handgun, also introduced at the SHOT Show in January, is the RXP 22, a pretty compact .22 LR training/recreational shooting pistol that, according to the claim, combines “the feel of a 9mm compact pistol with exceptional reliability and premium features” – all this at an interesting price point: $279.99 in the US.

RXP 22's is a double/single action hammer-fired design and its highlights start with an aerospace-grade 7075 aluminum alloy internal frame and slide integrated into a durable polymer lower chassis with integrated grip texturing. The slide is drilled and tapped for direct mounting of RMR and RMSC optics, with front and rear serrations for easy manipulation. A universal mounting plate is included, providing compatibility with a wide range of other optics. Factory iron sights include a Glock-compatible front fiber optic – TruGlo sight. Rear sight is target-style and adjustable.

The 4”/101 mm long AISI 4140 steel barrel is precision-drilled and chrome-finished for better accuracy and durability – far surpassing the typical low-quality steel barrels found in many other .22 LR pistols, as the manufacturer duly points out – and is available in both standard and threaded configurations (the latter for the easy attachment of a suppressor or other accessories). The 13-round metal magazine is weighted. Ten- and 18-rounds magazines are also available. Magazine release is reversible.

The pistol comes with a frame-mounted manual safety, an integrated accessory mount for lights or lasers, and a limited lifetime warranty.

The RXP 22 is available in a variety of Cerakote finishes: OD Green, FDE, Sniper Grey, and Matte Black. As mentioned, MSRP in the US is  $279.99, which includes 2 magazines.
