Beretta USA is introducing the APX A1 Compact Tactical, the newest addition to the renowned APX family. Beretta originally presented the polymer-framed, striker-fired APX pistol series around 2015-2016 for the military markets as a successor to the extremely successful 92/M9 series; from 2017 the APX was also offered for the civilian market in both 9mm and .40 S&W calibers, followed in 2018-2019 by the mid-sized Centurion and the Compact models, the APX Combat, and the subcompact APX Carry.

2022 saw the introduction of the improved APX A1 series, offered in several variants, including a Tactical one featuring a threaded barrel and suppressor-height sights. As expected, now comes the latest addition to the family, the APX A1 Compact Tactical, an updated and compact-size 9mm option for personal defense derived from the APX A1 Tactical full size model.
It's no surprise that the new APX A1 Compact Tactical is suppressor ready – being equipped with a threaded muzzle at 1/2”-28 TPI – and equipped with blacked-out suppressor height sights for use when operating in suppressed mode.
Its design is also red dot optic-ready and compatible with all major MRDSs.

Beretta states that its latest striker-fired pistol is designed for the modern operator and “to elevate your tactical game”. In addition to those already mentioned, it actually boasts several interesting features, with ergonomics taking a center stage: three interchangeable backstraps (S, M, and L size) are available, allowing you to tailor the grip to your exact preferences, while the extended beavertail offers superior recoil control and enhances comfort during extended shooting sessions.

Trigger pull and profile have been enhanced too. Magazines have a full 15-round capacity, providing a tactical advantage in defense situations, and the pistol comes with three of them. Magazine release is reversible. The compact-sized polymer frame is offered in classic Olive Drab, with black controls and backstrap. Side is black too.
Barrel is 4.2”/106 mm long. Overall length is 190 mm and height is 132 mm, weighing unloaded 785 g – for comparison, the APX A1 Full Size Tactical is 208 mm long and 147 mm high with a 4.8”/122 mm barrel, for a weight of 839 g.
Speaking of the price, the new APX A1 Compact Tactical in the U.S. is at $549, the same as the full-size model. When it will hit the EU-markets is not yet clear. We'll keep you informed.
