How much can change in just under a decade? While the first laser rangefinders in binoculars or a fivefold zoom factor in riflescopes were all the rage around 2014/2015, today it is primarily thermal imaging technology that is setting the latest trends in both handheld and clip-on devices. And modern sensors have revolutionised the way we hunt today. You no longer need a heavy 56-mm night optic when a clip-on can do the job more reliably in front of corresponding shorter and lighter scope. A presentation at the "Shooting Experts" on the IWA stage, held by Ralph Wilhelm and Carsten Zulauf, therefore also focussed on "Current developments in the dynamically changing thermal imaging segment". For example: do sensors have to become ever more powerful or would a simpler, but significantly cheaper device not be enough for normal hunting grounds? Connections to the outside world, or "connectivity", play a greater role today, be it via an app between the riflescope and ballistics computer or when uploading hunting success from the forest to social media. The transitions between day and night vision have changed too, with thermal imaging modes also taking into account the extent to which the eyes are strained when switching between real and thermal imaging. In our necessarily short IWA videos, but also in the longer articles on all4hunters.com about the latest thermal imaging devices, you can find out the differences between the individual systems and what you should look out for when buying.

IWA 2025: ultra-short Kahles K318i 3.5-18x50 sports riflescope with the new SKMR4 reticle
With the K318i 3.5-18x50, the Austrian optics specialists Kahles present their latest riflescope for sport shooters and law enforcement use. The ultra-short scope (313 mm long) with a 34-mm main tube diameter and a 50-mm objective lens can be mounted on semi-automatic rifles as well as for sporting use in PRS or Extreme Long Range competitions, where bolt-action rifles are also used. As usual with Kahles, the parallax adjustment is located in the elevation turret, so you can choose whether you prefer to make the windage adjustment with the right or left side turret. The reticle is in the first focal plane; in addition to the two variants for MOA or MIL measurement, an ultra-fine Tremor reticle and the SKMR4 reticle specially designed for PRS competitions are also available. For further information see the Kahles website.
IWA 2025: Beretta BRX1 Strata straight-pull hunting rifle

The Beretta BRX1 straight-pull bolt-action rifle is one of the high points in terms of versatility for one of the most flexible and customizable guns on the market. The Strata version takes its name from the special camo pattern with which the stock and forend are finished. The receiver and fully floated barrel, on the other hand, are protected by a Cerakote matte gray treatment. The Beretta BRX1 Strata features a 57-cm barrel with threaded muzzle that allows the mounting of a silencer (where permitted). The extreme modularity of the BRX1 gun system allows it to be adapted to the personal needs of users, starting with the ability to swap the cocking handle from one side of the receiver to the other. More information on the Beretta website.
IWA 2025: Burris with new XTR PS riflescope series and overview of the entire portfolio
A new product from Burris is the new riflescope series called XTR PS. It comes in two models to start with: XTR PS 3.3-18x50 mm and XTR PS 5.5-30x56 mm. As you can already see from these specifications, the models are intended for long-range shooting. They thus bring the technology from the already familiar hunting Burris Veracity PH into the world of (sporting) long-range shooting. The Programmable Elevation Knob (PĒK), which makes dialing to distance easier, is also on board. When looking through the scope, the shooter can then see the set distance in real time in the HUD. This means that the shooter only has to measure the distance with a rangefinder and then deal it accordingly in the XTR PS. The shots are then always at the correct elevation. If you want to save a step, Burris has the Eliminator. This has the rangefinder directly integrated. We present the Eliminator, the XTR PS and other models in the video. Further information is also available on the Burris website.
IWA 2025: versatile GPO Spectra 8x 1.6-13x44i all-round riflescope, the best seller at German Precision Optics
German Precision Optics (GPO) once again had its coveted Spectra 8x 1.6-13x44i riflescope on show at IWA Outdoor Classics 2025, which has become the German manufacturer's most sought-after product since its launch in September 2024. The versatile scope with an overall length of just 300 mm and a weight of just under 700 grams was specially designed for clip-on technology. A reinforced lens housing with integrated filter thread factory ensures robustness, while the practical throw-lever enables quick magnification changes. The optional ballistic turret with five adjustable rings allows precise adjustments to different distances, for customised configurations with or without a silencer. With its 8x zoom, HD lens system and continuously dimmable fiber reticle, the GPO Spectra covers almost all hunting scenarios, from driven hunts, stalking and hide hunting to mountain hunting. More details about the scope can be found in the video and on the GPO website.
IWA 2025: Air Maks Arms Krait PCP air rifle in 6,35mm

One of the most established trends in recent years in the sporting gun sector concerns PCP, or Pre Charged Pneumatic air rifles, which are in fact evolving unstoppably, thanks also to the fact that in most European countries they can also be used for hunting. The Air Maks Krait (in the photo above) is a classic example of a medium-caliber, in this case 6.35mm (.25") PCP air rifle. In this particular version it is equipped with dual 700 cc tanks, Arca Swiss rail with Spartan bipod, sound moderator and upper optics rail. This is a high-power rifle, capable of delivering a pellet energy of 100 joules. The Air Maks Krait has a fully adjustable trigger that can be set in every parameter, as is the output power, and can be accessorized with all kinds of optics, bipods, suppressors, etc., thanks to the numerous Picatinny rails and other interfaces.
IWA 2025: Walther PDP Compact PRO SD

In Germany, silencers, unlike lights to be mounted on the gun, are legal. This allows German enthusiasts to enjoy such goodies as this 4.6-inch Walther PDP Compact offered in a PRO SD version, i.e., complete with an Aimpoint Acro red dot and, most importantly, an Impuls IIA suppressor built for Walther by B&T of Switzerland, a specialist in the field of silenced firearms, capable of significantly reducing the sound signature of the 9mm cartridge. This is one of the most popular and appreciated silencer models, not only in the civilian field. For more information please visit the Walther website.
IWA 2025: Tisas PX-5.7 in 5.7x28mm

Turkish manufacturer Tisas makes its debut in the world of 5.7x28mm handguns with the PX-5.7 semi-automatic pistol. The cartridge was developed by FN back in 1990, and after an initial period of oblivion has been rediscovered by PCC pistol and rifle manufacturers. This gun has all the features that are all the rage today starting with the polymer frame with Picatinny accessory rail, single-action only trigger (with a pull weight of 1,500 grams) with automatic safety built into the trigger, adjustable sights with fiber optic insert and front slide serrations, and is also available in an “Optics Ready” version with a slide cut to accommodate mini-reflex optics. The barrel is 119.5 millimeters long and has a crowned muzzle. The magazine is a double-stack type, with a capacity of 20 rounds. The Tisas PX-5.7 promises to be like the Turkish manufacturer's other pistols, so well made and affordable.

IWA 2025: Civivi Photonix flipper knife

There is certainly no shortage of knife manufacturers at IWA 2025, both Italian and international, such as We Knife, which was present with a large booth where the products of satellite brands Civivi and Sencut were also on display. It is difficult to choose among all the new products presented by the three joint brands, but we try to do so by introducing the Civivi Photonix, a beautiful folding knife with a Drop Point profile blade made of 4C28N steel hardened to 57-59 HRC. In the version we present here, the Civivi Photonix has a black stonewashed blade and a comfortable black coarse G10 handle, but in the catalog there is also a version with a satin-finished blade and green Micarta or Bubinga wood handle. The blade is opened through a flipper or the classic double thumb stud. The blade is 94-mm long for a overall length of 226 mm. A reversible clip is attached to the handle, allowing the knife to be carried in the “tip up” position. Retail price is attractive: in fact, it's $65 for the version shown above. More information at the Civivi website.
IWA 2025: QSP Beetle, an original and colorful knife

Among the more extravagant knives seen at IWA 2025 was definitely the Beetle by China's QSP Knife. Despite appearances it does not have a double-edged blade. Featuring a totally symmetrical line and a mischievous use of color, the QSP Beetle has a 75-mm long, 3-mm thick 14C28N steel blade with a flashy red finish, hardened to 58-60 HRC. The side flipper is present on both sides. The handle is black G10 with oval millings showing the metal of the liners, with the same color as the blade. Where the liners are covered by the handle scales, the see-through cuts allow the knife's weight to be kept below 117 grams. The blade locking system is a classic and reliable liner-lock. The clip is fixed by a single screw on the handle tang and can therefore be easily moved from one side of the knife to the other. The QSP Knife Beetle is also available in other colors (gold, blue, black, silver) at a retail price of $72.50.
IWA 2025: B&T Station SIX 9

The B&T Station SIX 9 is an interesting update of the VP9, itself tracing its roots back to the legendary Welrod pistol used during World War 2. The integrally suppressed gun remains very similar in aesthetics to the previous model, of which it also retains the bolt action. The most obvious differences are the addition of a metal guard to protect the trigger and barrel, which is now one single piece and no longer composed of two parts. For more information please visit the B&T website.
