Video: Baschieri & Pellagri, new powders and rifle ammo reloading

Our video cameras recorded a very practical and creative day at Baschieri & Pellagri. On this occasion we were invited in to talk about rifled guns and powders in particular, one of the longstanding flagships of the Baschieri range. In the world of hunting and target shooting, the propellants manufactured by this Bologna-based company have been renowned for their quality, consistency and performance for many years.

At Baschieri & Pellagri, Gianluca Garolini talks us through the basic steps to correctly reload rifle ammo.

There are four powders specifically for rifled guns that are selected according to their respective burn rates.

They range from the BP 06 Light Rifle, a flattened, spherical, double-base powder with a medium burn rate that is ideal for small-caliber rifle cartridges, although it is also suitable for middle-caliber, low and intermediate power ammunition.

Magnum primers and medium-crimped bullets are recommended. Suitable calibers include 222/223 Remington, 30/30 Winchester, 375 Winchester, 308 Winchester, and 9.3 x 62.

The second powder is the BP 07 Medium Rifle, a flattened, spherical, double-base powder with a medium burn rate.

This polyvalent powder is ideal for a wide range of rifle cartridges of various calibers characterized by medium-sized cases, and is also suitable for old-order rifles.

Magnum primers and medium-crimped bullets are recommended. Suitable calibers include 22-250, 7x57, 30/30 W, 308 Winchester, 7.5x55, 303 Br., 7.62x54 R, 8x57 JS, 9.3x62, 9.3x74R, and 45/70.

The third propellant produced by Baschieri is the BP 08 Heavy Rifle, which as the name suggests, is specifically designed for high-performance calibers.

The BP Magnum Rifle powder, specially developed for heavier loads and for large-caliber rifles, completes the range.

Ammo reloading with Baschieri & Pellagri powders

Wild boar target
From a distance of 100 meters at the firing range, the .222 Remington Magnum ammo loaded with Baschieri Light Rifle powder offered consistent performance with concentrated and accurate shot patterns on the wild boar target.

In this case, we tested the range using the .222 Remington Magnum, a widely available intermediate caliber suitable for hunting medium-sized hoofed animals as well as for target shooting.

Having collected the spent cases, we were then in the expert hands of Gianluca Garolini as he guided us through the ammo reloading process. The firing range tests showed the ammo to be completely reliable, safe and accurate.

We were shown the reloading equipment and how to use it correctly in order to achieve optimal results.

From cleaning and restoring the case to loading the powder and inserting the bullet, every operation must be carried out with absolute precision to guarantee complete satisfaction when it comes to shooting.

After a few shots to calibrate the rifle, the results from multiple shooters at 100 meters were excellent, with narrow and regular shot patterns on the target. It is clear that the new Baschieri & Pellagri powders, when correctly prepared and in the hands of knowledgeable hunters and shooters, offer optimal ballistic performance. Happy viewing!
