CCW-ready: Springfield Armory adds the XD-M Elite 3.8" Compact pistol

We had already got a taste of it at the SHOT Show 2020. Now Springfield Armory has officially introduced the XD-M Elite 3.8" Compact pistol. The Springfield XD ("Extreme Duty") striker-fired, polymer-framed pistol series actually originates from the Croatian HS Produkt HS 2000 model. Expressly designed for concealed carry, the new 9mm compact version offers “a CCW-ready package with a compact slide and short, concealable frame”. Features include the flat-faced, Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly (META) that, according to Springfield Armory, delivers “the finest production polymer-framed pistol trigger pull available”, ambidextrous slide stop, improved slide serrations and a magazine capacity of 14+1 – magazine is double-stack. A removable extended and flared magwell makes magazine changes easier and quicker. As stressed by the manufacturer, the removable magwell also allows you to quickly convert the pistol from a compact to a full-size frame with a 19+1 capacity employing optional full-size XD-M magazines with compatible magazine sleeves.

Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 3.8" Compact with match grade barrel

The 3.8″/96 mm hammer forged, match grade barrel is Melonite finished. On the forged steel slide, a Tactical Rack U-Dot rear sight featuring a u-shaped white outline is coupled to a the high-visibility fiber optic front sight. An ambidextrous slide stop and magazine release, improved slide serrations with enlarged grasping grooves for enhanced ergonomics round off the package. Foorprint is small, with an overall length of 6.75"/171 mm, a height of 4.58"/116 mm and a grip width of 1.2”/30 mm. Weight is 27 oz/765 g, not a featherweight but still comfortable enough for prolonged concealed carry. All in all, the little baby seems to have the right credentials to enter the crowded and very competitive market of compact 9mm carry pistols.

For a MSRP in the US of 559 USD, the Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 3.8" Compact also comes with two 14-round magazines.
