German Precision Optics (GPO USA) introduces the new GPO SetBack, a cantilever mount designed for compact tactical riflescopes with a 30mm main tube. What sets the system apart is its ability to position the optic up to 3 inches (approximately 76 mm) farther forward or rearward than with a conventional mount, allowing eye relief to be adjusted more precisely to suit both the optic and the shooter.
More freedom when mounting compact optics
Compact tactical riflescopes offer advantages in terms of weight, overall size and firearm balance, but their shorter main tubes can limit the amount of mounting space available. In some configurations, conventional cantilever mounts can also position the scope too far forward.
The GPO SetBack was developed specifically to address this issue. The mount can be oriented to move the riflescope up to 3 inches toward either the rear or the front of the firearm, making it easier to achieve proper eye relief and a more natural head position. According to GPO, this also makes it easier for the shooter to obtain a full field of view through the optic.
One-piece aluminum construction for the GPO SetBack
The GPO SetBack is machined from a single block of aircraft-grade aluminum. The one-piece construction was chosen to provide rigidity, proper ring alignment and reliable zero retention even under recoil.
One particularly interesting feature is the very short spacing between the rings, less than 2.5 inches (approximately 63.5 mm), which is intended to accommodate riflescopes with a very limited available mounting surface, such as models in the GPO CENTURI Super-Compact series.
The mount is designed for optics with a 30mm main tube and uses four hardened-steel crossbolts with Allen heads to secure it to the rail. It is compatible with MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails and features a matte black hard-anodized finish.
