Aimpoint ACRO P1, a rugged enclosed red dot system

Small, indestructible and all in all elegant – these are some of the strengths of the enclosed red dot miniature reflex sight manufactured by Aimpont. While one of the major limitations of the so-called open mini-reflex optics is a certain delicacy, the ACRO P1 eliminates the problem at the root, presenting itself as a glass and metal prism that is dirt and weather resistant. The weight of the optic is 2.11 oz/60 g, slightly more than a similar product with open construction, but the resistance to impact and "rough" use is much higher.

To verify its resistance, the prototype of the Aimpoint ACRO P1 was mounted on the slide of a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol with which as many as 20,000 cartridges were fired. The test was passed without any breakage or malfunction. This should be enough to explain the Swedish company's idea of ruggedness, but that's not all: the sight can be immersed in water to a depth of 25 meters and can operate at ambient temperatures from -45°C to +71°C.

For our test we mounted the Aimpoint ACRO P1 on a TAC9 semi-automatic carbine from Tactical73, an Italian company that manufactures interesting products.

The ACRO P1 is ideal for mounting on "optics ready" semi-auto pistols but also on conversion kits such as the Hera Arms Triarii and pistol caliber carbines. And it is exactly on the latter type of gun that we are going to test this very interesting optic in the field. As you can see in the picture, we have mounted our ACRP P1 on a TAC9 carbine made by Tactical73, a young Italian company that is making a name for itself among enthusiasts for its high level products.
