Designed for today's law enforcement: Aimpoint releases the new Duty RDS red dot sight

The Duty RDS is the latest addition to Aimpoint's well known and appreciated range of red dot sights. The new release is expressly built to meet the demands of today’s law enforcement agencies. “Law enforcement agencies face many challenges on and off the streets.” said Jonas Ardemalm, Director of Professional Sales for Aimpoint AB. “Aimpoint created the Duty RDS as a sighting solution that law enforcement agencies can rely on to provide top performance with very little maintenance. A sight that is always ready, always on, easy to use, accurate, fast on target, and at an accessible price point.”

Aimpoint Duty RDS, a compact and rugged package

The Duty RDS offers a 2 MOA dot
The Duty RDS offers a 2 MOA dot that is ideal for short to medium range target engagements.

Highlights of the Aimpoint Duty RDS are a compact package – size L x W x H  is 3.1 x 1.5 x 2.6 in (80 x 38 x 67 mm) – and a budget friendly price point: in Europe the price tag will be 430 euros.

About the key features, the manufacturer explains that “the Duty RDS offers a bright, crisp 2 MOA dot that’s ideal for short to medium range target engagements. The windage and elevation adjustments are flush mounted and waterproof, eliminating the need for protective caps. The turret adjustments provide audible “clicks” to aid in zeroing the optic. The brightness intensity switch is a new digital keypad designed for ease of use even while wearing gloves.”

MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails
The Duty RDS comes with a one-piece torsion nut mount that attaches to MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails.

The package includes flip-up lens covers – front is solid, rear is transparent – that allow the user to engage targets with the lens caps closed and both eyes open in an emergency, or to aim into direct sunlight.

Housing is pressure forged aluminum alloy with an hard anodized non-reflective surface for better durability against extreme abuse and drastic temperature changes. The sight is also vibration and shock resistant, and submersible up to 25 meters. A one-piece torsion nut mount that attaches to MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails provides absolute co-witness with standard height iron sights. Other useful features include flip-up lens covers – front is solid, and rear is transparent – that allow the user to engage targets with the lens caps closed and both eyes open in an emergency, or to aim into direct sunlight. The sight is fully compatible with all generations of night vision devices. Power is supplied by a single CR2032 battery: the ACET technology provides over 3 years of constant-on use at daylight position 7 and even longer on the night vision compatible settings.

In the package are included: one-piece torsion nut mount and spacer, flip-up lens covers, CR2032 battery, Allen T10 wrench. The Aimpoint Duty RDS is expected to be available in in Europe in the third quarter of 2022.
