SOG Recondo FX, a tactical knife for professionals

A “professional-grade fixed-blade series of cutting tools”: this is the  Recondo FX, the latest tactical fixed-blade knife introduced by the Texas-based SOG company.

Actually, there are four variations available, since the Recondo FX is offered in black or FDE with straight edge or partially serrated blade configurations. 

In any case, the knife is  designed for any field or tactical-oriented application, featuring a 4.6” long, 0.16" thick full-tang CRYO 440C stainless steel blade and an overall length of 9.6 inches. 

The blade shape is a classic clip point type. For full corrosion resistance and reduced friction for smoother cuts, the blade has a black titanium nitride finish. Weight is 5.3 oz.

Founded in the mid-1980s by designer and toolmaker Spencer Frazer, SOG company proudly takes its name from the Studies and Observation Group, an elite Special Forces military group from the Vietnam era. 

The Recondo FX comes with a black ambidextrous Kydex sheath.

Consistently with its name, SOG's production is aimed at the military and law enforcement, but also at outdoor enthusiasts who are looking for rugged and reliable tools. Manufactured in Taiwan, the SOG is in fact a durable knife, whose overmolded rubberized GRN/TPU handle is claimed as “virtually indestructible”, ergonomically crafted to enhance control and retention, also thanks to a deep finger groove and integrated pommel that ensure a solid grip. The sides are textured for excellent control even with wet hands.

As mentioned, the Recondo FX is offered with black or FDE colored handles while the blade can have a straight edge or a partially serrated blade for more demanding cuts.

The Recondo FX comes with a Kydex sheath with a universal mounting system and a slot in the pommel to secure a lanyard. The UMS-compatible sheath is ambidextrous, and provides multiple mounting options, featuring a tool-less tension adjustment system.
