A major release of the core firmware for the Pulsar LRF XT50 thermal imaging binoculars is now available for download and installation. Firmware Update 3.0.0 adds many new features and improvements, including enhanced image quality, new functionality, and better user experience.
Firmware Update 3.0.0 upgrades the algorithms of the image processing engine, significantly improving image quality, and introduces full integration with Stream Vision Ballistics iOS app (Android is coming soon), displaying ballistic corrections directly in the binoculars’ eyepieces – even in complete darkness. A Ballistics Calculator widget is also now available on the bino’s display. New features include expanded personalization options, such as the addition of a new green color palette bringing the total number of available color modes to nine. This palette reduces eye fatigue and simulates the appearance of analog night vision. It is now possible to choose from three screen shape options: rectangular, rounded, or circular – but only for in-eyepiece display, as recorded and streamed video will still be rectangular. Improved display dimming function ensures graphics remain partially visible after activation, making it easy to use in low-light conditions. Streaming has been enabled via the USB-C cable to a PC or smart device, and is compatible with apps such as VLC Player, AMCap, USB Camera, and CamX; this mode offers superior video quality and reduced latency compared to WiFi streaming, and supports video editing with external software.
A nice addition is the automatic disabling of image stabilization when the Merger LRF XT50 thermal imaging binoculars are mounted on a stable platform such as a tripod: the device detects its position and automatically disables image stabilization to avoid unnecessary adjustments. If moved, image stabilization reactivates. The Firmware Update 3.0.0 can be downloaded via the free Stream Vision 2 app, available on both the App Store and Google Play.
