The Pulsar Thermion, undoubtedly the European thermal imaging and electro-optics manufacturer’s bestselling and most popular hunting riflescope line, has been redesigned around a brand-new optical objective lens with an increased focal length of 60 mm, with a fast F value of 1.1 and a groundbreaking wide angle eyepiece with a large Micro-OLED 2560x2560 pixel resolution display and extended 65-mm eye relief. This new eyepiece provides an immersive viewing experience, literally pulling the hunter into the scene – feeling more connected to the surrounding environment.

Called the Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF 60, the new Thermal Imaging hunting riflescope line includes three models that all share the above-mentioned features, sports the same 30-mm traditional daytime riflescope mounting interface and general appearance of its predecessors, a built-in laser rangefinder with internal ballistic computer plus a finer click value for enhanced zeroing precision and long range shooting accuracy. The three models are the Thermion 2 LRF XL60, the Thermion 2 LRF XG60, and the Thermion 2 LRF XP60: the XL60 features a 1024x768 @ 12 μm resolution microbolometer sensor with a NETD of <35 Kelvin, while both the XG60 and XP60 share the same sensor resolution of 640x480, however both sensibility and pixel pitch differ substantially. The Thermion 2 LRF XG60 has a 640x480 @ 12 μm sensor with a NETD of <40 Kelvin, while the XP60 has a 640x480 @ 17 μm sensor with a NETD of <25 Kelvin – the difference is obvious also in the detection range, which is 2800 m for both the 1024 HD resolution LF60 and the lower 640 resolution XP60, while the smaller sibling of the Thermion 2 LRF 60 family of riflescopes, the XG60, can detect a target at 2000 m.
Being the objective focal length of 60 mm, and the digital zoom ratio of 8x, the same for all models, what determines native and maximum zoom magnification is both sensor size and pixel pitch: therefore, the three models feature a magnification range of 2,5-20x for the XL60, 3 – 24x for the XP60, and 4 – 32x for the XG60. At the same time, also click values are dependent on the sensor.
As usual, all4hunters.com will test and review a sample of the Thermion 2 LRF 60 line of hunting riflescopes, so check back soon for it!
Pricing and availability information for each model in Europe and USA will be announced soon.
