Ruger is now offering what they call a “top of the line” version of one of their most popular products, the 10/22 rimfire rifle chambered in .22LR. The 10/22 Target Lite – this is the name of this new version – is the closest thing to a custom-shop rifle you can get, yet still factory-made and at a very reasonable price: just 649 USD for the whole package. The latter includes a BX-Trigger with a crisp 2.5-3 pound trigger pull weight, minimal overtravel and a positive reset; a 16.13 in / 409 mm cold hammer-forged barrel tensioned in an aluminum alloy barrel sleeve; a patented, detachable 10-round rotary magazine features a unique rotor to separate cartridges and provide reliable feeding; combination scope base adapter for both Weaver-style and .22 tip-off scope mounts (the rifle has no iron sights).
Ruger 10/22 Target Lite: the right rifle at the right price
The most appealing and conspicuous feature of the 10/22 Target Lite is its red and black laminate thumbhole stock. Length of pull is adjustable, and with its “technical” and effective look, the stock bodes well for shooters looking for performance, reliability and style. As for the action, it's a tried Ruger design, paired to a precision made heat-stabilized, glass-filled, polymer trigger housing assembly. Manufacturer claims that the high-tech material it's made from improves manufacturing tolerances and impact and abrasion-resistance.
The barrel includes a 1/2"-28 threaded muzzle and is fitted with a thread cap which can be removed to allow for the use of muzzle accessories. All metal parts have a satin blued finish. As in the other 10/22 rifle versions, safety is a push-button, cross-bolt manual type.
All in all, Ruger 10/22 Target Lite seems to be an interesting product at the right price.
