Ruger Expands the LCP MAX pistol line with a Magpul Enhanced Handgun Grip model

A fresh configuration fitted with the Magpul Enhanced Handgun Grip – or EHG – for Ruger's LCP MAX .380 pistol. The LCP MAX was first launched in 2021 as an ultra-compact EDC gun offering greater magazine capacity, improved shootability, and the kind of lightweight, pocket-friendly profile that made the platform a benchmark in concealed carry. The original model uses a flush-fit 10+1 double-stack magazine, while an extended 12-round optional magazine is also available.

Developed as part of Ruger’s ongoing collaboration with Magpul Industries, the new LCP MAX with Magpul EHG retains the proven performance of the standard model while adding a purpose-designed grip frame engineered to improve control, comfort, and shooting consistency. The package includes both a 13-round magazine purpose-built for the EHG featuring an integrated Magpul grip extension, and a 10-round magazine fitted with a Magpul-specific floor plate, matched to the grip frame in both texture and appearance. Initial models will also be equipped with a manual safety.

Ruger LCP MAX with Magpul EHG: features and enhancements

Compact and easy to carry, and with a 2.80”/71 mm barrel, the pistol remains true to its role as a pocket-sized personal-protection handgun, but the Magpul grip brings a more refined interface between pistol and shooter. The EHG features Magpul’s 3/4-scale TSP texture, providing a secure purchase without being overly abrasive or prone to damaging cover garments during concealed carry.

The slide has been redesigned with styling cues loosely inspired by the 9mm Ruger RXM pistol, while retaining crisp cocking serrations and a snag-free profile suitable for daily carry. Sights are also well thought out: the tritium front sight, outlined in white, supports fast target acquisition in varied lighting conditions, while the rear sight uses a generous U-notch for easy alignment and a square front face that allows one-handed slide racking. The dovetails are sized to accept aftermarket Bodyguard-pattern sights.

Mechanically, Ruger has refined several key areas, including the magazine feed lips, feed ramp, extractor, and barrel cam geometry. The patented barrel cam geometry delays unlocking and slows slide velocity, helping reduce felt recoil compared with many other .380 Auto pistols. The LCP MAX also uses Ruger’s proven Secure Action fire-control system, which combines a protected internal hammer with a bladed-safety trigger for a short, smooth pull, a clean break, and a positive reset. Magazine release is reversible.

With a suggested retail price in the US of $449, the LCP MAX with Magpul EHG ships with a soft pocket holster, a magazine loader, one 10-round magazine and one 13-round magazine.
