New 9mm G3 Tactical, the first factory custom G3 pistol variant from Taurus

The new Taurus G3 Tactical has some of “firsts” to its credit. To start with, it is the first factory custom variant of the G3 9mm defensive handgun. The manufacturer actually describes it as “the most versatile firearm in the G3 series lineup” and “a feature-rich, performance-driven pistol ideal for any application”. Another first for Taurus is the fact that the G3 Tactical features a 1/2”x28 TPI threaded barrel for the attachment of suppressors or aftermarket compensators. The factory threaded barrel is also coated in black Diamond Like Coating (DLC), providing lower friction resulting in increased durability.

But let's introduce the Taurus G3 Tactical in its basic features. Like the G3 from which it derives it is a full-size, polymer-framed, striker-fired 9mm pistol with a 4.5” barrel and

17-round capacity. Differently from most single-action firing systems, all the G3 models including the

The G3 Tactical features the T.O.R.O. (Taurus Optic Ready Option) slide with four interchangeable red dot mounting plates.

Tactical variant offer second-strike capability, which means that n the event of a failure-to-fire condition, the shooter can reset and pull the trigger again to re-strike the primer.

The G3 Tactical also features the T.O.R.O. (Taurus Optic Ready Option) slide with four interchangeable red dot mounting plates.

Lastly, the G Series trigger system features a 2-stage flat-faced trigger designed to provide a light take-up with a distinct wall, crisp break and short reset capabilities.

The tall co-witness sights are the optimal height as back ups when equipped with a red dot optic, also providing an option for suppressed shooting.

From here the differences begin, however: the FDE color infused frame and Cerakote Patriot Brown slide make the G3 Tactical immediately recognizable.

And even if the T.O.R.O. slide has been already seen in some G3 versions, the latest Tactical iteration adds co-witness sights that are the optimal height as back ups when equipped with a red dot optic, also providing an option for suppressed shooting.

The G3 Tactical barrel is coated in black Diamond Like Coating (DLC) and features a 1/2”x28 TPI muzzle thread for the attachment of suppressors or aftermarket compensators.

There is also a MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail to accommodate most pistol-sized tactical lights, laser sights or light/laser combinations.

The G3 Tactical has no manual safeties – this is on purpose to ensure a quick draw and fire under duress – but features a striker block, trigger safety and visual loaded chamber Indicator.

The Taurus G3 Tactical is shipped with two magazines and a structured nylon storage case with an internal loop Velcro lining that allows the shooters to customize the layout depending on the individual’s specific needs. Price for the complete package in the U.S. is $582.98.
