Nighthawk Custom Double Agent, the compact and contemporary double-stack 1911 in 9mm

Developed in collaboration with Agency Arms and with a 16-round capacity, the new Nighthawk Custom Double Agent is a modern and compact commander-sized 1911 style gun in 9mm. It features a thin aluminum grip with Recon Rail that minimizes printing, making it ideal for concealed carry – Nighthawk Custom’s most concealed carry-friendly double-stack 1911 yet, according to the claim.

The guys at Nighthawk Custom proud themselves on being “a team of passionate craftsmen and firearms enthusiasts dedicated to building the world’s finest 1911 pistols”. The Double Agent makes no exception: every Double Agent pistol is proudly hand-built in Berryville, Arkansas, by a single gunsmith; frame, slide and barrel are hand-fitted; ignition components are hand-polished, and edges are hand-beveled. Every pistol is also test fired and zeroed before cleaning and packing at the factory. Trigger pull weight is set at 3.5 to 3.75 pounds.

The Double Agent design is based on the single-stack Agent 2 model, with the same signature angular aesthetic. The texture on the beaver tail grip matches the look and feel of the knurling on the slide, which provides optimal traction during slide manipulations without being too abrasive to skin or holsters. The 4.25" match grade barrel sports a distinctive eight-facet hex key muzzle with full crown.

Labor and craftsmanship are not cheap, though: the price tag on the Nighthawk Custom Double Agent 9mm pistol is a hefty $5,899.

The pistol comes factory with a Heinie Ledge Straight Eight rear sight and tritium front sight, but for an extra $350 is available with Nighthawk Custom’s iOS interchangeable optic system upgrade that allows you to change from iron sights to a red dot in seconds using just an Allen key. (With the dovetail cut in the slide, each plate can be removed and still return to zero.)

The Double Agent ships with two 16-round magazines, but any of Nighthawk Custom’s higher capacity magazines work as well.
