New Ronin Operator 4.25” pistol from Springfield Armory – A Commander-sized 1911

From Springfield Armory, a new “commander” style of their Ronin Operator pistol featuring a 4.25”/108 mm barrel. With the claim  “ready to deliver right out of the box”, the Ronin was introduced early this year as a standard full-size 1911 in both 9mm and .45 ACP calibers

Now comes the new Ronin Operator 4.25″ designed for everyday carry and “combining light weight and ease of carry with rugged reliability and strength”, according to the manufacturer.

Like the full size version, the new version sports the skeletonized Gen 2 Speed Trigger and the nice wood laminate grips displaying the Crossed Cannon logo.

From a technical and aesthetical point of view, the new shorter version shares the same features of its big sibling, namely a two-tone finish with a hot salt blued forged slide and a lightweight satin Cerakote-finished forged alloy frame, a Match grade forged barrel with fully supported ramp and 1:16  twist, fiber optic front sight and tactical rack white dot rear sight. Also worth of note are the skeletonized Gen 2 Speed Trigger and the nice wood laminate grips displaying the Crossed Cannon logo.

Weight is around 30 ounces/850 g, while magazine capacity is 9 rounds for the 9mm version and 8 rounds in .45 caliber. The stainless steel magazine comes with a base pad. Regardless of caliber, price is the same: 849 USD.
