Grand Power K22 TS sport pistol, old style flavor and modern features

Not by chance, we guess, the design echoes the glorious Baikal MCM aka Margolin, the Soviet-Russian .22 LR Practice Shooting Pistol that dominated competitive target shooting in 25m Standard Pistol class from the 1950s up to the 1980s. But the K22 TS, where TS stands for Target Sport, is a modern sport pistol manufactured by the Slovakian Grand Power company with all the features you can expect from contemporary handguns, including a polymer frame, four interchangeable backstraps and fully ambidextrous controls.

The Grand Power K22 TS is actually built from the same parts as Grand Power's larger caliber pistols and uses the same polymer frame with steel insert.

A few words about Grand Power: headquartered in the town of Slovenská Ľupča, in Slovakia, it was founded in 2002 and has since established itself as a world-class manufacturer of handguns for sports shooting, service, and personal defense purposes.

Among its products, the baseline K-100 and the sporterized K-100 "Xtrim" 9mm pistols, but also the compact and subcompact P1, P1 "Ultra" and P11 models; the full-size and long-slide P-45 and P-45L in the quintessentially American .45 ACP caliber; and the P-40, which is available in .40 Smith & Wesson, .357 SIG, and 10mm Auto calibers, as well as in a longslide variant; the X-Calibur is a specifically prepared, lightened version of the K-100 platform conceived for IPSC shooting. Also, it's worth mentioning the Stribog family of pistol caliber carbines offered in 9mm, 10 mm AUTO .45 ACP. (Here we introduced the 9mm Stribog SP9 A3S variant.)

Grand Power K22 TS, an ideal training tool

The Grand Power K22 TS is also available in a 8” barrel version. The pistol comes with a fully adjustable micrometric type rear sight as well as a fiber optic front sight.

Building on this extensive manufacturing experience, the .22 LR K22 TS was Grand Power's “answer to suggestions of long range rimfire shooters”. The pistol is actually built from the same parts as Grand Power's larger caliber pistols, that already used a sturdy polymer grip frame in which there is a steel insert – the actual frame – manufactured by milling and drilling from a single piece of high quality steel. The full size controls layout is the same too, which makes the K22 TS an ideal training tool. The enlarged sport safety levers provide rest for your thumb and can be replaced by lower profile ones. The pistol also has an accessory rail for mounting lights or lasers.

The K22 TS is manufactured in two barrel length variants, 6” and 8” (152 and 203 mm) in order to accommodate to shooters needs as well as local legislation and comes with a fully adjustable micrometric type rear sight as well as a fiber optic front sight. Moreover the bull-type barrel is threaded for accessories (thread protector is included as standard). The crisp DA/SA trigger features a short reset to enhance accuracy of follow-up shots. Thanks to the unique slide design, the generous chamber access space allows easy manipulation, for example in case of ammo jams. Lastly, the K22 TS can be field stripped without any tools. Retail price of the K22 TS is around the 900 euro mark, for both the 6” and 8” versions.
