Our test focuses on a combo consisting of the Istanbul Silah Monza bolt-action rifle with synthetic stock in .308 Winchester and the AKAH 2-12x44 LA riflescope. We also used the combination on the hunting ground with an H50 R thermal imaging clip-on from Nocpix and lead-free Brenneke TAG ammunition.
The rifle: Istanbul Silah Monza in .308 Winchester
The Turkish-made Istanbul Silah Monza is a classic bolt-action rifle in the attractive entry-level segment. The version we tested comes with a synthetic stock, adjustable cheek piece and an attached Picatinny rail for easy optics mounting. The barrel measures 510 mm and the overall length of the rifle is 1,030 mm. The weight is around 3.2 kg. Features include a single-stage trigger, a sheet steel magazine with a capacity of 4 cartridges and an M15x1 muzzle thread, which can be used to mount a silencer, for example. In addition to .308 Winchester, the Monza series is also available in .223 Remington and 6.5 Creedmoor. The Monza has the essential features that many young hunters expect from a first bolt-action rifle – a rugged basic design, simple optics mounting, practical dimensions and a price that does not make it unnecessarily difficult to get started. In some European markets, the suggested retail price (MSRP) for the synthetic stock variant is around the 650-699 euro mark; the wooden stock variant costs 200 euro more.

The riflescope: AKAH 2-12x44 LA without rail
The AKAH 2-12x44 LA is designed as a versatile hunting scope. The magnification range of 2x to 12x covers driven hunts, stalking and sitting game and thus meets the requirements of a universal entry-level optic.
The 44-mm diameter objective lens keeps the riflescope steady, but at the same time offers sufficient reserves for many standard hunting situations. Technically, the riflescope has side parallax adjustment, a lockable elevation adjustment and a click adjustment of 0.1 MRAD, i.e. 1 cm at 100 meters.
The illuminated no. 4 reticle supports fast target acquisition in difficult light conditions. With a length of 313 mm and a weight of 728 g, the scope fits a compact bolt-action rifle. The AKAH 2-12x44 LA costs 499 euros.
The additions for the field test: Nocpix Mate H50R thermal imaging clip-on and Brenneke TAG ammunition

The Nocpix MATE H50R thermal imaging clip-on in detail
More and more young hunters today are not only thinking about rifles and scopes when buying their first equipment, but are also incorporating a thermal imaging clip-on directly into their setup. The reason is obvious: especially in difficult light conditions or when hunting at night, modern technology offers a clear advantage in terms of safety and response quality.
The MATE H50R from Nocpix is a device that is particularly impressive in its class thanks to its excellent image quality and practical features. The combination of modern sensor technology and sophisticated features ensures a clear, detailed image and makes the clip-on a reliable companion for everyday hunting.
The Nocpix Mate H50R is also interesting in terms of value for money: with a price of around €3,000, it is positioned in a range that is still within the reach of many young hunters, but at the same time already offers a high standard of quality. This makes it an option that can be attractive both for beginners and for long-term use on the hunting ground. We already tested the Nocpix Mate H50R here at all4shooters.
The Torpedo Alternativ Bullet (TAG) from Brenneke in detail

The TAG design from Brenneke combines several technical features that are specifically designed for a high shock effect in the body of the game and precise flight characteristics at the same time. The focus is on the aluminum tip, which not only improves the external ballistics, but also reliably initiates the fragmentation of the front section of the bullet on impact – even with lighter game. This creates three defined fragments that ensure rapid energy release and immediate stopping effect. The remaining body retains sufficient mass to ensure a substantial exit wound even with larger game.
This is complemented by the characteristic sharp edge that cuts through hair and skin and thus facilitates tracking. The lead-free bullet is made of high-purity copper and has an anti-friction coating. This reduces friction in the barrel, protects the material and contributes to consistent accuracy. In addition, integrated guide flanks ensure stable guidance along the barrel and improve internal ballistics.
The design is therefore based on clearly defined elements: an aluminum tip for controlled expansion, a hollow point with three predetermined breaking points for targeted fragmentation and the tried-and-tested bevel. The result is a modern, lead-free bullet that is designed to offer both fast action and reliable penetration. With this development, Brenneke is building on its long tradition and transferring proven principles to the present day. The aim is to offer hunters high-performance ammunition that is not only effective but also as gentle as possible on the game.
Wrapping up

In practical use, the Monza proved to be a solid working rifle with decent accuracy. In conjunction with the lead-free 155-gr Brenneke TAG in .308 Winchester, the combo could be used reliably for hunting up to about 150 meters. The action worked reliably, but felt somewhat cumbersome to operate. It should also be noted that the rifle only has a classic two-position safety and cannot be unloaded with the safety on – a point that the user must be aware of and train to use the rifle safely.
The AKAH 2-12x44 LA fits in well: it is not a specialized scope for just one type of hunting, but a versatile all-round riflescope for driven hunts, stalking and stand hunting. In conjunction with the Nocpix Mate H50R, the basic combo becomes a much more versatile setup. All in all, a young hunter package that is interesting for beginners who are looking for a functional, affordable and ready-to-use combo of rifle and optics. Those who later add thermal imaging technology, silencers or preferred ammo can customize the package step by step to suit their own hunting grounds and personal hunting practice.
