Hausken suppressors: these are the three new XTRM models from the Jakt series for 2022

The manufacturer Hausken from Norway can already look back on almost 30 years of experience in the development of suppressors. By the way, the brand has been part of the RUAG Ammotec Group since 2021. Over the last few years, the highly specialized company has significantly expanded its range with many new models for a wide variety of applications and firearm configurations, and has been able to further optimize the existing suppressor types from a technical point of view. 

At IWA 2022, Hausken is now presenting three new suppressors that differ greatly in terms of attenuation performance, dimensions and design. One must know: "the" all-round suppressor does not exist. The developers usually have to make technically compelling compromises and can thus offer the best solution in each case for different uses. Therefore, the three new Hausken suppressors Whisper WD 406 XTRM MKII, Jakt JD 151 XTRM MKII and Jakt SK 156 XTRM MII are perfectly adapted to the respective application. Here are the details.

Hausken Whisper WD 406 XTRM MKII: a suppressor with high attenuation performance for hunting and training

The Hausken "flagship", the Whisper WD XTRM MKII. In the meantime, many hunters can no longer imagine shooting without a suppressor on the ririfle, which not only protects their hearing, but also allows the rifle to be shot more precisely and more comfortably...

Let's start with a "big boy" from Hausken: the Whisper WD XTRM MKII is considered the flagship of Hausken suppressors, surpassed in performance (but also in size and weight) only by the "MEGA" version of the model. The Whisper WD 406 XTRM presented is a medium version of the suppressor with an overall length of 406 mm, available in six length increments between 228 and 506 mm. Assuming a rifle without iron sights, the Whisper WD 406 XTRM as an over-barrel suppressor then protrudes only 144 millimeters past the muzzle. 

With its generous internal volume, the model attenuates up to 38 decibels, depending on the caliber, barrel length and cartridge load. The abbreviation XTRM indicates that an integrated stainless steel mesh improves the gas pressure distribution in the suppressor and reduces the noise during firing by a few more clearly noticeable decibels. The Hausken Whisper WD 406 XTRM MKII is particularly suitable for raised hide hunting, but also for intensive training: thanks to its technically sophisticated design, fast strings of up to ten shots are possible before it has to cool down. A suppressor with this performance is also suitable for powerful magnum calibers, whose recoil is also significantly reduced.

Hausken Jakt JD 151 XTRM MKII: an ultra-compact suppressor for walked-up hunts and dog handlers

Hausken now offers a wide range of suppressors for every purpose. Here you can see the new, ultra-compact Jakt JD 151 XTRM MK II. The name is more complicated than the technology...

Maximum compactness: the Hausken Jakt JD 151 XTRM MKII is the manufacturer's smallest suppressor for standard calibers. Only 259 g!

Hausken steers in the opposite direction with the ultra-compact Jakt JD 151 XTRM MKII suppressor. The smallest Hausken for standard calibers is specially designed for light firearms and is also particularly well suited for dog handlers. 

With a small extension past the muzzle of only 67 millimeters, the suppressor is hardly noticeable on the gun, so to speak – and does not add to the weight. The Jakt JD 151 XTRM weighs only 259 grams. 

Lightweight rifles in particular are thus not out of balance: as a result, it offers optimum manageability, which is a particular advantage with driven hunting. 

In addition to the sound and muzzle flash attenuation further improved by the integrated stainless steel mesh, the recoil reduction of the ultra-compact Jakt JD 151 XTRM also contributes to pleasant use on the hunt. It should not lack robustness despite its filigree exterior: like all Hausken suppressors, the Jakt JD 151 XTRM is also made of high-alloy and subsequently hard-anodized aluminum. 

The Hausken Jakt JD 151 XTRM MKII suppressor is suitable for guns without iron sights with a maximum barrel outer diameter of 23 millimeters.

Hausken Jakt SK 156 XTRM MII: a compact on-barrel suppressor for barrels with iron sights

For all barrels from caliber .22 to .375. with iron sights, the Hausken Jakt SK 156 XTRM MII is suitable. The slim suppressor is mounted directly "on-barrel". This also makes it an ideal choice for hunters who use an attachment on a short barreled rifle and need clearance here. 

Weighing only 420 grams, the Hausken Jakt SK 156 XTRM does not upset even such a configuration. Performance is also right: thanks to Hausken's XTRM stainless steel mesh, the suppressor effect is 28 decibels or more, depending on the configuration. 

From the factory, the suppressor comes with an M18x1 thread. However, Hausken also has all the right adapters for other barrel sizes. Like all Hausken suppressors, the Jakt SK 156 XTRM MII can be quickly disassembled into two parts using a disassembly tool and cleaned easily and thoroughly.
