New 1873 John Russell and Nueces '73 lever action rifles from Cimarron: Old West flavor

Cimarron Firearms is a well-known name in authentic Old West firearm replicas for the US market. Among other products, at the 2025 SHOT Show they showcased their new lever-action rifles, including the 1873 John Russell and the Nueces 1873 models.

With the 1873 John Russell rifle, Cimarron Firearms' expands their Hollywood Guns collection. The model pays homage to actor Paul Newman, who starred in the critically acclaimed 1967 movie Hombre. Inspired by the striking profile of the lead character's rifle, the Cimarron John Russell lever-action features a 20” heavy round barrel, shortened magazine tube, a hand-rubbed oil walnut stock and forend, and a classic old metal finish. Available in either .357 Magnum or .45 LC for an MSRP in the US of $1,780.70

In honor of one of the Texas Rangers' finest, the Winchester Nueces '73 rifle on the other hand pays tribute to a real-life character: Captain Leander H. McNelly, who in he 1870s commanded the Special Force, a group of law enforcement financed by the area cattle ranchers to protect the land and cattle in the embattled Nueces Strip, a large swath of land on the Rio Grande frontier. 

Cimarron’s reproduction features a specially designed 24.25” heavy round barrel chambered in .45 LC and stamped with a “T * S” – the same stamp used on rifles issued to the Texas Rangers. The rifle also sports a hand-rubbed oil walnut stock and forend, along with the old metal finish. Price in the US is $1,768.88.
