Just Right Carbines (JRC) is a US manufacturer whose pistol caliber carbines (PCCs) are increasingly attracting attention. One reason for the increasing popularity is probably the price-performance ratio. With a purchase price in the US starting at $699 up to $759 – depending on the model and features – the guns are in a range that is particularly interesting for newcomers to PCC shooting. We took a closer look at the manufacturer and the available models.
Technology, modularity and caliber of Just Right Carbines
A characteristic feature of the JRC models is their modular design. The basis is an AR-15-style action, which ensures broad compatibility with common accessories such as stocks, triggers or grips. Particularly noteworthy is the ability to switch between different calibers in a few simple steps (without tools). By swapping the barrel, bolt and magazine adapter, the carbines can be adapted from 9mm Luger to .40 S&W, .357 SIG, 10mm or .45 ACP, for example. This flexibility expands the range of applications and makes the guns interesting for different scenarios – especially in sport shooting. The features are complemented by ambidextrous operability: the charging handle and case ejection can be set up for both right-handed and left-handed shooters. Another practical advantage is the compatibility with GLOCK magazines, which are available in large numbers and are comparatively inexpensive.
Speaking of gun laws, a brief digression: the design of the JRC PCCs means that the manufacturer is one of the few that can supply shooters in all 50 US states. The guns are in fact easily customisable to the respective legal requirements.
JRC PCCs: handling and accessories
With a weight starting at around 2.7 kilograms, the Just Right Carbines guns are among the lighter representatives of their class. They are compact, have an adjustable stock (standard variants) and are therefore very easy to handle. Thanks to the caliber change option, the models are of particular interest when it comes to being purchased by sport shooters. JRC also offers a wide range of accessories. Optics, handguards, grips or buttstocks can be customised via the aftermarket, enabling adaptation to personal preferences.
