The STR9 pistol is manufactured by Stoeger, a brand that is part of the Beretta group. The striker-fired semi-automatic featuring a polymer frame comes in several versions and offers several distinctive features, including an ergonomic design, that make it a popular and above all affordable choice among firearms enthusiasts.
The STR-9 is constructed from high-quality materials, starting with the steel slide with nitride-hardened finish, which in some versions such as the STR-9S Combat also features a cut for direct mounting of red dot optics. In the standard version, the three-dot sights consists of a rear notch and a front sight which can be side drifted. The STR-9S Combat version, on the other hand, features a micrometrically adjustable notch and a raised front sight, which can also be used when mounting a silencer (where permitted) and in co-witness with a red dot. In this version rear notch and front sight have a high-visibility green fiber optic insert. On both versions the slide also has cocking serrations on the front section.

The frame has interchangeable backstraps (the pistol comes with three of them) that allow the grip to be adapted to the user's hand. A Picatinny rail on the dust cover allows the mounting of accessories such as a tactical light or laser. The grip surfaces are textured to provide excellent grip in all conditions. The textured finish is also present on the frame area where the index finger of the strong hand rests for safe handling at all times. The STR-9S Combat version has a magwell at the base of the grip and has a flared magazine well to facilitate quick reloading. The barrel of the STR-9 is 106 millimeters long while on the STR-9S Combat version the length is 119 millimeters and the muzzle threaded, which is protected by a cap.
In terms of safety, the Stoeger STR-9 has an automatic striker safety and a trigger safety. In addition, a visual and tactile indicator allows the user to check whether a round is chambered. The magazine of the STR-9 Standard has a capacity of 15 rounds while the Combat model can use the increased capacity 20-round version. The Standard model comes with two magazines and the Combat with three magazines. The strong point of the series is certainly the competitive price: the Standard version has a US MSRP of $329 while you will need $629 euros to take home the STR-9S Combat model.
