Kimber CDS9 carry pistol, now also in Classic and Classic OR versions

Kimber's Covert Double Stack 9mm pistol – or CDS9 for short – has already gained a certain popularity since it was introduced late last year.

Kimber CDS9 Classic (here with a solid gray finish) is an EDC handgun with fully ambidextrous controls.

A modern everyday concealed carry 1911-style handgun, it is an addition to the already appreciated KDS9c family of concealed carry semi-automatic handguns. The CDS9 Classic and CDS9 Classic OR (Optic Ready) models, available in two finish options – black/brushed and solid gray – both featuring black injection-molded grips and chambered in 9mm, are the latest additions to the family.

Kimber's CDS9 Classic and CDS9 Classic OR features

The slide of the Kimber CDS9 Classic OR opic-ready model has a direct mount optic cut for RMSc footprint red dots.

Kimber's CDS9 Classic and CDS9 Classic OR models have a slimmer profile than the previous CDS9s and come without the accessory rail on the dust cover.

Kimber CDS9 Classic sights:  TruGlo Tritium Pro Night front sight with orange front ring and TruGlo Tritium Pro Night rear sight with white rear rings.

The overall design, according to the manufacturer's claim, is actually a more refined offering of a concealed carry pistol.

Just like its siblings, the CDS9 Classic pistols sport a 10, 13, or 15+1-round magazine capacity and feature fully ambidextrous controls.

They also use the CDS9's dual recoil spring assembly that replaces traditional guide rods “to deliver the softest shooting experience possible in a micro compact platform”.

The optic-ready model, Kimber CDS9 Classic OR, is fitted with a Tag Fiber Lock front sight and a standard rear notch built into the cover plate.

The CDS9 Classic and the  CDS9 Classic OR models differ in the sights: the former comes with a TruGlo Tritium Pro Night front sight with orange front ring and TruGlo Tritium Pro Night rear sight with white rear rings; the optic-ready model, on the other hand, is fitted with a Tag Fiber Lock front sight and a standard rear notch built into the cover plate – the slide has a direct mount optic cut for RMSc footprint red dots.

Kimber CDS9 pistols have a capacity of up to 15+1 rounds thanks to the extended 15-round magazine. 13-round and flush-fit 10-round magazines to improve concealment are also available.

For the rest, there are no differences: from the archetypal 1911 design the hammer-fired CDS9s took the straight pull trigger, here with a contemporary flat faced blade, characterized by a vertical brake point. Extractor is external.

Frame is aluminum, slide is stainless steel. Both the frame front strap and mainspring housing are frag pattern checkered.

The nylon grip panels have molded stippling. The  3.18”/81 mm match grade barrel is also stainless steel, with 5R rifling and 1:10 twist rate.

The new CDS9 micro compact high-capacity handguns are priced at $795 (CDS9 Classic) and $865 (CDS9 OR) and come standard with one 13-round magazine and one 15-round magazine.

A 10-round flush fit magazine for enhanced concealability is also available optionally.
