CZ TS 3 Orange – The new competition pistol from Ceska Zbrojovka for the IPSC Optics Division: how the ten-time world champion Eric Grauffel handles it in a video

Like all models in the TS sports pistol family, the new TS 3 Orange was developed in close co-operation with the CZ Shooting Team. It therefore meets the requirements of professional sport shooters, especially those competing in dynamic shooting disciplines such as the IPSC Optics and, with a view to the US market, USPSA Limited Optics divisions. The endorsement of ten-time IPSC World Champion Eric Grauffel further underscores the performance of the new TS 3 generation. If you would like to see how this exceptional shooter handles the new pistol perfectly, just take a look at the video linked at the end of this article.

The new TS 3 Orange builds upon the strengths of the TS 2 Orange, which the Czech manufacturer – as all4shooters.com reported at the time – unveiled during the IPSC World Shot 2022 in Thailand. However, the new TS 3 Orange pistol has been optimized from the ground up for the use of modern red dot sights and maximum performance under competition conditions.

The new CZ TS 3 Orange sport pistol comes with a modern OR interface and redesigned slide

The OR interface of the new CZ TS 3 Orange supports DeltaPointPro, RMR, RMSc and Holosun K footprints.

A key feature of the new CZ TS 3 Orange is the fully integrated optics-ready interface. CZ is thus following the trend of enabling red dot sights to be mounted directly on the slide without any adapter plates. The OR interface of the TS 3 Orange supports common footprints such as RMR, RMSc, DeltaPoint Pro and Holosun-K. This solution offers several advantages: a particularly low sight line with co-witness option, greater stability at the connection between the optic and slide, and optimized gun balance. This can play an important role in dynamic competition shooting in particular, where fractions of a second are decisive.

CZ has also comprehensively revised the design of the TS 3 Orange. The redesigned slide features more pronounced cocking serrations and specifically positioned cuts in the slide above the barrel. This not only makes slide racking easier, but also contributes to weight reduction and a better balance of the pistol when firing. Incidentally, the slide runs in continuous guide rails in the grip frame and is adjusted by hand to ensure particularly tight tolerances. According to CZ, the result is exceptionally smooth cycling, which should be particularly noticeable in rapid-fire strings.

Another element that has been upgraded is the heavy, cold-hammered bull barrel with its new recessed muzzle crown, which protects the rifling and, as experience has shown, should ensure a long service life of the barrel and consistently accurate shooting performance even under intensive use in competition. CZ offers a lifetime guarantee on the barrel.

Further ergonomic and accuracy-enhancing improvements to the new CZ TS3 Orange IPSC sport pistol

For faster reloading in competition, the magwell on the new CZ TS 3 Orange has been further improved compared to the earlier TS models.

A finely tuned single-action-only trigger with a short, clean travel and minimal reset ensures the necessary precision in competition. The trigger pull weight is around 600 grams (6 Newtons), allowing for fast and controlled firing strings. A magazine release button that can be adjusted to a total of five positions and an improved magwell support fast and reliable magazine changes during competitions.

The CZ TS 3 Orange has an ambidextrous thumb safety. The new thumb rest can be seen in front of the slide stop.

The developers also paid great attention to grip ergonomics. The frame, made from a single piece of steel, features deeper undercuts on the beavertail and trigger guard. As a result, the pistol sits lower and more securely in the hand and can therefore also be better controlled in terms of recoil. Speaking of a secure hand position: the TS 3 Orange features new G10 grips with a non-slip texture, which are also designed to ensure a firm purchase. The concept is complemented by a revised thumb rest with a higher side plate profile, which prevents contact with the slide and is set at the same 25° angle as the rotating lever of the ambidextrous safety. The thumb rest, which is only available on the left side of the frame as standard, is also available as an optional accessory for the other side of the gun.
