CZ DUTY: new modular striker-fired pistol with direct-mount optics

The CZ DUTY is chambered in 9×19 mm (9 mm Luger/Parabellum), both in the C and F versions, with or without a manual safety.

On October 6, 2026, Česká zbrojovka, better known to shooters as CZ, unveiled the CZ DUTY in Uherský Brod, Czech Republic. It is an entirely new generation of striker-fired pistols developed from the ground up. Chambered in 9mm Luger (9x19mm), the platform was designed around the requirements of professional users, including the armed forces, while also targeting civilian shooters looking for reliability and a long service life.

The design combines a patented modular chassis, a patented striker-fired trigger system, revised ergonomics and a direct-mount optics interface. Modularity, safety and ease of use were among the main priorities throughout development.

CZ DUTY: modular chassis and multiple safety systems

At the heart of the CZ DUTY is a patented modular chassis containing the pistol’s functional components. This architecture allows the gun to be configured with different grip modules, barrel lengths and magazine capacities according to the user’s requirements.

The CZ DUTY incorporates several layers of mechanical protection, including a three-stage drop-safety system. Models with an ambidextrous manual safety are also available. Field stripping does not require pulling the trigger.

The patented trigger system provides smooth take-up, a crisp break and a short, clearly tactile reset. These characteristics are intended to provide consistent trigger behavior from shot to shot.

The full-size CZ DUTY 4.0F differs from the 4.0C primarily in the dimensions of its grip module. This example is fitted with an Aimpoint red-dot sight.
The compact CZ DUTY 4.0C, here without the optional manual safety. Its 102 mm (4.0 in) barrel is the same length as that of the 4.0F.

Three grip sizes, ambidextrous controls and direct-mount optics

CZ guarantees a 50,000-round service life for the DUTY when used with standard ammunition.

CZ developed the DUTY’s ergonomics using advanced digital design tools and its DiFEND methodology. The grip geometry and surface texture were designed to provide a stable, comfortable hold across a broad range of hand sizes.

Grip modules are available in three sizes, allowing both grip dimensions and trigger reach to be adapted to the shooter. The controls are fully ambidextrous, so right- and left-handed users can operate the pistol without modifications.

The new direct-mount Optics-Ready interface supports a wide range of compatible red-dot sights. Trijicon RMR, Shield RMSc, Holosun K and Leupold DeltaPoint Pro footprints can be mounted directly to the slide without conventional adapter plates.

50,000-round rated service life and NATO-method testing

Designed primarily for professional and military users, the CZ DUTY includes an accessory interface for mounting a weapon light.

Both the CZ DUTY 4.0C and 4.0F are chambered in 9mm Luger and are offered with or without a manual safety. CZ guarantees a service life of 50,000 rounds with standard ammunition, or 25,000 rounds with overpressure DM51 ammunition, which the company describes as being loaded to 30 percent higher pressure. The guarantee also includes a 10,000-round period without parts replacement.

The CZ DUTY underwent an extensive test program based on NATO AC/225 methodology, including drop, water and debris exposure testing. Manufacturing tolerances are also checked throughout production, with more than 200 dimensions and tolerances inspected on the slide alone. Each pistol is factory-tested for function and accuracy, with the sights zeroed at 25 m (27 yd).

Long-term durability is supported by CZ’s proprietary in-house nitride treatment, a fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip module and a cold hammer-forged barrel. The barrel is covered by a lifetime warranty after registration with the CZ Customer Club.

The DUTY therefore represents an entirely new platform in CZ’s handgun lineup, developed around the modularity, durability and straightforward handling required by professional users.

Standard magazine capacity is 15 rounds for the CZ DUTY 4.0C and 17 rounds for the 4.0F, both chambered in 9mm Luger.

Its introduction also coincides with the 90th anniversary of Česká zbrojovka, founded in 1936. The company’s Uherský Brod facility is ISO 9001 certified, and CZ exports its products to nearly 100 countries as one of the principal companies within Colt CZ Group SE.

All four launch configurations of the CZ DUTY carry an MSRP of $729, with availability beginning October 6, 2026.
