New from FN: Reflex 9mm micro-compact pistol

The Reflex is the latest FN USA 9mm micro-compact pistol designed for everyday carry and perfected for deep concealment: two versions available – a standard one and an optics-ready variant, named Reflex MRD. FN also claims that the Reflex has the best-in-class trigger pull and an easy-to-rack slide. The trigger is described as “glass-smooth, hard wall” with a clean 5-lb (2,268-g) break for match-grade accuracy.

FN Reflex: for everyday carry

The FN Reflex is available in two PVD coated finishes, black and flat dark earth (FDE).

This is how the manufacturer presents it: “A precisely accurate pistol for everyday carry and perfected for deep concealment. With an internal hammer and multiple redundant safeties, the trigger is the smoothest, most refined fire control in an FN carry pistol. Stacking tight groups on target with match-grade accuracy is instinctive, with shootabilty besting all guns in its class.”

The MRD variant of the FN Reflex comes with a slide cut for Shield RMSc and Holosun K-series (mounting screws are included).

As mentioned above, unlike the vast majority of other modern polymer-frame carry pistols which are usually striker-fired, the new FN Reflex uses an internal hammer. Action is single only, however. The optics-ready Reflex MRD variant features a slide cut for Shield RMSc and Holosun K-series red dots. Both the MRD and the standard models also come with three-dot iron sights, including a driftable steel front night sight with tritium insert and high-visibility orange ring.

The FN Reflex, standard model. Note the multi-faceted grip with in-mold stippled texture.

The 3.3”/84 mm cold hammer-forged barrel features a recessed crown, polished chamber and feed ramp to enhance accuracy and ammunition compatibility. Thanks to the multi-faceted grip with in-mold stippled texture, grip angle and palm swell, the manufacturer ensures consistent sight picture and full recoil control. Two double-stack magazines are provided with each gun, one 11-round magazine with pinky extension and one 15-round extended magazine. Magazine release is reversible. On the dustcover, a slim line rail allows the mounting of micro-compact lasers and lights like the Streamlight TLR-7 sub and Surefire XSC.

Metal surfaces are PVD coated for a corrosion- and wear-resistant finish, available in both black and flat dark earth (FDE).

As for prices, in the U.S. the optics-ready FN Reflex MRD has an MSRP of $659, while the non optics-ready FN Reflex model has an MSRP of $599.
