New FN PUREVIEW, holographic technology comes to red dot sights

FN introduces a new standard in reflex sights – the industry's first holographic micro red dot. What sets the FN PUREVIEW apart is its core architecture. At the center of the system is the patented ImageGuide technology, an advanced solution based on nanoimprint lithography that etches microscopic structures directly onto flat glass, instead of using standard curved lenses. This approach enables a true holographic reticle projection while providing an exceptionally clean, true-to-life and undistorted sight picture. The result is a parallax-free red dot reticle image, with automatic brightness adjustment for fast and accurate target acquisition in all lighting conditions.

FN PUREVIEW: video introduction

FN PUREVIEW, for professional use

The FN PUREVIEW features an enclosed, fully sealed construction 25% lighter than competing models and has been engineered for frontline conditions. The FDE version seen here will be available soon.

The FN PUREVIEW is the product of a close collaboration between Creative Micro Systems Corp. (CMC) – a leader in holography-based electro-optics – and FN’s Finnish subsidiary Noptel Oy, specializing in opto-electronic technologies. Unlike many optics in this category, the FN PUREVIEW delivers a remarkably natural view of the target area, with a flat glass that minimizes visual distortion and enhances target definition. The 3-MOA red dot is supported by automatic brightness adjustment and 14 manual settings, including dedicated night-vision modes.

Although optimized primarily for pistols, the FN PUREVIEW can serve equally well on submachine guns, shotguns, and selected carbines, while also offering a compact backup solution for sniper systems and magnified platforms. Mounted low on the center axis, the red dot can be fitted to all pistols marketed by FN with an MRD-ready slide. (FN says it will offer adapter plates for widely used pistols from other manufacturers.)

Thanks to its patented ImageGuide technology and flat glass, the FN PUREVIEW provides a clear, undistorted view of the target with a parallax-free red dot reticle.

Durability is central to the concept: featuring an enclosed, fully sealed aircraft-grade aluminum construction that is 25% lighter than competing models, the FN PUREVIEW has been engineered to withstand repeated drops from 1.8 meters onto concrete, to maintain zero after heavy impacts, and it is rated for operation from -40°C to +52°C. It is nitrogen-purged to eliminate internal fogging, and meets IP68 requirements, including submersion to 35 meters for one hour. Even in the event of a shattered lens, the reticle remains visible and correctly zeroed – an especially significant feature in a combat-oriented optic.

The lens features a hydrophobic coating that helps preserve visibility in rain, spray, and maritime environments. Power is supplied by a CR2032 battery, providing approximately 800 hours of continuous operation, or up to one year of typical intermittent use with the onboard battery-saving mode. (The sight's motion-sensing technology turns the optic on when moved and conserves battery when not in use.)

Designed and manufactured in the European Union, the FN PUREVIEW is an innovative compact holographic sight conceived from the outset for professional use. It comes with a black anodized surface treatment, but an FDE version will be available soon. Price in the US is $749.
