Cabot Guns is a well-known, and quite elite, Pennsylvania-based manufacturer. Founded in 2011, the company specializes in high-end pistols built on the 1911 platform.
Production focuses on premium models manufactured to extremely tight tolerances, with extensive use of parts machined from billet. Alongside more traditional configurations, the Cabot catalog also includes limited editions and pistols distinguished by unusual materials and finishes.
One of its latest creations is the Bedside. The name is quite literal: Cabot Guns positions this 1911 primarily as a defensive handgun intended for use in low-light conditions around the home. Its technical features reflect that practical role, while still incorporating the materials and workmanship typical of the upper end of Cabot’s lineup.
Damascus steel slide and stainless frame
The most immediately recognizable feature of the Damascus Bedside 1911 is its stainless Damascus steel slide. Cabot applies a high-contrast treatment that brings out the pattern in the steel, while the matte finish helps reduce glare.
The frame is machined from American 416 stainless steel and coated in black DLC. The frontstrap features 24-lines-per-inch diamond checkering, matched by similar treatment on the mainspring housing. Standard grip panels are ebony, with Cabot’s distinctive Fibonacci pattern.
An accessory rail is integrated into the dust cover for mounting equipment such as a weapon light, consistent with the defensive role Cabot assigns to this version.
Five-inch match-grade barrel
The Damascus Bedside retains the dimensions of a Government-size 1911 and uses a hand-fitted, five-inch stainless steel match-grade barrel. The muzzle has a machined crown and sits flush with the bushing, while the feed ramp is polished.
The barrel has six grooves with a 1:16-inch left-hand twist. Cabot Guns guarantees accuracy of less than 1.5 inches at 25 yards, approximately 38 mm at 22.9 meters. This figure is a manufacturer claim.
The trigger is Cabot’s aluminum TriStar unit. The manual safety, slide stop, magazine release, grip safety and other small components are machined from billet. A full-length guide rod and Cabot barrel bushing complete the setup.
Sights and controls of the Cabot Damascus Bedside
Standard sights consist of a Cabot Ledge rear sight and a dovetailed front sight. Various configurations are available, including a red-dot-ready option, together with choices for the sights, safety, trigger, barrel, grip panels, magwell and front accessory rail.
The magazine well is flared. In .45 ACP, the pistol is supplied with two eight-round magazines. The slide features rear cocking serrations and a lowered, flared ejection port, both familiar features on modern 1911 pistols.
Overall length is 8.62 inches (219 mm), height is 5.39 inches (137 mm), and width is 1.35 inches (34 mm). Sight radius is 6.515 inches (approximately 165.5 mm).
Limited production run of only 50 pistols for 2027
Cabot Guns has announced that only 50 Damascus Bedside 1911 pistols will be produced for 2027. The base price is $8,295, before any optional features. Ordering requires a non-refundable deposit of $2,073.75.
