A 307 action on an ultra-light (24 oz, equal to 680 g) Bastion carbon fiber stock that comes factory with spiral-fluted barrel and bolt, externally adjustable TriggerTech trigger and recoil-reducing Accubrake ST mjuzzle brake: this is the new Weatherby Model 307 Alpine ST rifle, born out of a partnership with carbon fiber stock specialist Peak 44.
Weatherby Model 307 Alpine ST: action

Some more details, starting from the action: introduced a couple of years ago as the first Weatherby bolt-action centerfire rifle in over 50 years, the Model 307 is a customizable 700 footprint rifle platform featuring a 2-lug fully cylindrical action compatible with many aftermarket accessories.
The steel barrel is spiral-fluted to reduce weight, increase rigidity, and add surface area to help cool the barrel faster. Speaking of accuracy, Weatherby's guarantee is that all their rifles can shoot a 3-shot SUB-MOA group at 100 yards with factory-loaded ammunition.

In the Alpine ST model the bolt is also fluted and the knob is skeletonized to further reduce weight. The bolt is also equipped with an M16-style extractor for positive extraction and reliable ejection. An Accubrake ST muzzle brake reduces recoil by up to 53%. Receiver, barrel and brake have a wear- and weather resistant graphite black Cerakote finish.
Weatherby Model 307 Alpine ST: stock

The other highlight, the 680-g Peak 44 Bastion stock is the lightest production, vertical grip carbon fiber stock on the market. It uses a proprietary 3D-Hex recoil pad to reduce felt recoil. On the other end of the rifle, the forend comes with dual sling studs. Other features include a comfortable ambidextrous palm swell and a substantial thumb groove for better shooting comfort. The stock's exposed carbon fiber outer surface has grey, light grey and gold brushed sponge pattern accents.
Available in standard short and long actions, Weatherby's Alpine ST is offered in no less than 14 chamberings, ranging from the proprietary .257 Wby.Mag. to 7mm PRC, also including .308 Win. and 6.5 Creedmoor, with a magazine capacity of 3 or 4 rounds and barrel lengths from 20” to 26” depending on caliber. Similarly, total weight ranges from 2,800 g to 2,900 approx. Price however stays the same: $1,999.
