From Henry, three new lever-action rifles and a shotgun for 2021

The specialist of lever-action guns, Henry Repeating Arms is one of the top-five long gun manufacturers in the USA. For 2021 the guys from Bayonne, New Jersey, announce four new models – three lever action rifles and a single-shot shotgun – “that fit the needs of modern hunters, whether in pursuit of small game or large, feather or fur”.

“I can’t recall a more aggressive time of growth as far as the number of new releases and the frequency by which we release them is concerned,” states Henry Repeating Arms President and Owner Anthony Imperato. “We are very proud to present hunters with an ever-increasing number of American-made choices when they go to purchase a rifle or shotgun for an upcoming season, and we’re just getting started for this year.” Here are the new Henry guns.

Lever Action Magnum Express .22 Mag

Designed for small game and varmint hunting, the Lever Action Magnum Express .22 Mag  rifle is built for use with optics – no iron sights are provided, just a pre-installed Picatinny rail scope base – and sports a Monte Carlo style buttstock. The latter should provide a higher cheek weld and more natural shooting position when using a scope. A rubber recoil pad is added for additional stability. Both the Monte Carlo buttstock and the forestock are American walnut wood and  checkered. The tube magazine holds eleven .22WMR cartridges. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the Lever Action Magnum Express .22 Magnum is $622.

Lever Action X Model .30-30

According to the manufacturer, the .30-30 caliber has been added to Henry's X Model line “by popular demand”. The X Model rifles was introduced early last year. The new model features full synthetic furniture with integrated sling swivel studs, Picatinny and M-Lok accessory slots, and an industry-standard 5/8×24 threaded barrel to accept a suppressor or other muzzle device. The Lever Action X Model .30-30 comes with fiber optic sights, while the blued steel receiver is drilled and tapped for optional scope use. The rifle utilizes a 5-round removable tube magazine for convenient unloading. The addition of a side loading gate allows that magazine to be kept topped off without needing to remove the tube or suppressor. The Lever Action X Model .30-30  manufacturer suggested retail price is $1019.

All-Weather Picatinny Rail .45-70 Side Gate

The All-Weather Picatinny Rail .45-70 Side Gate is inspired by pioneering firearms training instructor Jeff Cooper's "scout rifle" concept, i.e. an easy-carrying rifle that “will do a great many things equally well.”  The most characterizing feature of the new version of the popular All-Weather .45-70 Side Gate model is the extended Picatinny rail that allows a scope to be mounted further up on the barrel for increased peripheral vision and quick target acquisition. The rail also includes an integrated peep sight, which is fully adjustable for windage and elevation. True to its name, most metal surfaces are satin hard chrome plated and hardwood stocks are specially treated for temperature and moisture resilience. According to the manufacturer, these finishes are permanently bonded to the underlying material and will never chip, peel, or flake. The .45-70 also features a 4-round removable tube magazine and side loading gate, sling swivel studs, a ventilated rubber recoil pad, and an internal transfer bar safety system. MSRP in the US is $1221.

Single Shot Turkey Camo Shotgun

With a full Mossy Oak Obsession camo finish – the official camouflage pattern of the National Wild Turkey Federation – the 12-gauge Henry Single Shot Turkey Camo Shotgun comes factory with fiber optic sights and a removable turkey choke that extends the effective range. Barrel is 24” long. The shotgun features a rebounding external hammer safety mechanism and ambidextrous locking lever setup. This also prevents the action from opening or closing if the hammer is cocked.

Obviously designed for the dedicated turkey hunter, it also features a drilled and tapped barrel for a Weaver 82 base for optional optics mounting. Under the camo finish, the stock is walnut wood. Being a lightweight single shot platform (weight is 6.78 lb/3 kg) with a 3 ½” magnum chamber, a soft rubber recoil pad should help mitigate some of the recoil. The Single Shot Turkey Camo 12 Gauge Shotgun manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $687.
