Zamberlan Thunder: new boots with adaptive sole for greater cushioning and improved protection

We already wore the new Thunder GTX on spring selective hunting trips, but we will continue to test its features during the summer and autumn.

The new Zamberlan Thunder lightweight mid-season boots combine stability, grip and protection in a modern design, ideal for enjoying medium difficulty hikes on mixed trails. Thunder GTX is an evolution of the Storm model, offering superior cushioning. Its sole with the new Adaptive Hero System (AHS) technology allows the sole to minimise the impacts with the ground by absorption and adaptation, ensuring a smooth and stable walk on different terrain.

Zamberlan Thunder, new adaptive sole

At the heart of the Thunder GTX is its innovative Adaptive Hero System (AHS) technology devised by Zamberlan's R&D team that provides advanced cushioning and perfect terrain adaptation. The wedge is formed by two layers of low-density EVA between which a TPU insert is inserted. In this way, the soft microporous upper layer gives the foot a cushioning effect when walking, while the midsole provides maximum stability, lightness and anti-torsion control. The bottom layer absorbs negative impact with the ground, adapting smoothly to uneven terrain, and the medium-density EVA insert in the heel area promotes cushioning.

The special technology of the Adaptive Hero System allows for the different layers to deform, adapting to the terrain and minimising impacts.

In addition to the new technology and the focus placed on safety and comfort, the boot features, as usual, a Gore-Tex lining for the right breathability and foot thermoregulation, preventing moisture and infiltration. The soft upper is made of suede leather and there are protective reinforcements in the toe and heel area to limit impacts and chafing.

On the outside, the leather is protected by the Hydrobloc water-repellent treatment. The Thunder's weight of about 480 grams confirms the lightness of a piece of technical footwear that is intended to accompany the hunter's movements without weighing down the joints in mixed walking of medium difficulty.

To maintain the water-repellent properties and optimal performance of the boots, a minimum of maintenance and care of the suede leather is recommended with the use of Hydrobloc Spray Conditioner after use.
