Apex hunting knives Models 46 and 46D, handmade reliability

The Apex line 

Apex line of products has become the brand associated with some truly remarkable stalkers kit. In line with the development of these products, a great deal of time and testing has been spent in the design for purpose & reliability which has resulted in two beautiful variants, the Model 46, featuring a stainless AISI 440c blade, and the beautiful 46D, offered in Damascus steel.

All Napier team are keen stalkers and every one of them uses a different knife and often more than one. Sometimes a very slim, small blade is required for muntjac and roe, whilst a larger, heavier blade would be more useful when gralloching a fallow sika or red deer.

Design and comfort of use

By incorporating the specific drop blade shape it has been possible to produce a knife that can easily handle the delicate parts of a muntjac yet have the weight and strength required to tackle the sternum of a roe and the three larger species.

Each hunting knife is ergonomically designed with a palm swell Micarta handle,  attached to a full tang best quality blade,   along with stainless bolsters. The addition of some features such as the top blade rib and brass lined lanyard eye were actually finalised through research and feedback as recently as IWA 2018. The result of hard work are two beautiful handmade blades, heavy enough to do the job but well balanced and practical in the field.

Each one is presented with a premium quality tan leather sheath,  slim and well positioned for a belt. It features a strong Napier brass logo press stud fastener, and the double stitched, brass riveted cow hide leather is lined with a laminate proofed goat skin, that renders it as practical as a plastic lined article but much more robust and beautiful.

The Model 46 features a stainless AISI 440c blade. Handle is well shaped and comfortable.

Napier is confident that the quality of these two knives is the best available and offer a three-year limited warranty. Each individually numbered knife is supplied with full instructions and is personally inspected and endorsed by the designer and Managing Director. A bottle of Apex Edge honing and knife care oil is included with every knife to keep it in pristine condition.
