New Taurus Model 66 Combat revolver, the “fighting gun”

For some time now, Taurus has accustomed us to the regular introduction of new revolver models featuring modern and functional carry designs. With the latest Model 66 Combat, this tradition continues. The new Model 66 Combat is an all-stainless steel, medium-frame revolver in .357 Magnum with a  concealable 3” barrel and 7-shot capacity “all the makings of the perfect fighting gun,” according to Taurus.

Taurus Model 66 Combat, a double action only revolver

Hogue grip
The Taurus Model 66 Combat features a non-fluted cylinder, Hogue grip and a tuned double action only trigger.

The manufacturer claims that the Taurus Model 66 Combat is the perfect next-gen option for both concealed carry and home defense. An important “fighting” feature is that it has a tuned double action only trigger, so no hammer spur. This should allow for a faster draw and a smooth-as-glass rolling trigger pull.

Taurus Model 66 Combat is optic-ready
The Taurus Model 66 Combat is optic-ready and comes  with a removable high-visibility fiber optic front sight.

To further confirm its “Combat” title, the new revolver is  optic-ready right out of the box (it is drilled and tapped to accept an optics plate that can host optics with the Shield RMSC footprint) and comes factory with a removable high-visibility fiber optic front sight for faster target acquisition and accuracy. Add to this a compact Hogue grip and full-length ejector rod.

Being chambered in .357 Magnum, the Taurus Model 66 Combat can also fire .38 Special rounds, +P loads included, which increases versatility. The 7-round capacity is also reassuring for a carry gun. All metal surfaces have a matte finish.
