New Stoeger Airguns XRD22 and XRD17 CO2 revolvers

Designed for informal target shooting, recreational use and plinking, the Stoeger XRD22 and XRD17 CO2 revolvers broaden the XRD range with two new calibers, 5.5 mm (.22) and 4.5 mm (.177) respectively, joining the previously introduced .50-caliber XRD50 model. The new models give shooters greater flexibility in selecting the configuration that best suits their preferred shooting style.

Well suited for casual training sessions, including indoor practice where permitted, all revolvers in the XRD series are powered by standard 12-g CO2 cartridges housed inside the grip. Muzzle energy is approximately 4.3 joules in 5.5 mm and 3.1 joules in 4.5 mm, offering a balanced mix of controllability and shooting fun. The removable “cylinder”/ammo mag holds 10 rounds in both calibers, supporting fast reloads and uninterrupted range time.

The Stoeger XRD22 and XRD17 are fed from a removable 10-round ammo mag for fast reloads.
Stoeger Airguns’ redesigned CO2 chamber cap conceals the 12-gram cartridge inside the grip.

Built on a lightweight all-polymer frame, the revolvers weigh about 700 grams, making them easy to handle. A Picatinny rail on the top strap and an additional rail on the dust cover allow for the installation of red-dot sights as well as tactical accessories such as lights or lasers. The barrel is 138 mm long in both models.

The Stoeger XRD22 and XRD17 have a polymer frame and feature Stoeger’s Thridion 3D grip texturing, a futuristic trigger profile, and a ported muzzle brake.

From an ergonomic standpoint, the XRD22 and XRD17 are designed to maximize user control and shooting comfort. The grip features Stoeger’s Thridion 3D texturing for a secure, positive purchase, while the futuristic trigger profile is shaped for improved comfort during extended shooting sessions. A high-visibility fiber-optic front sight enhances sight acquisition and helps the shooter maintain a more precise point of aim.

Another distinctive feature is Stoeger Airguns’ redesigned CO2 chamber cap, which conceals the 12-gram cartridge inside the grip. Beyond improving reload practicality, this solution gives the revolver a cleaner, more aggressive profile and adds to its realistic appearance. At the muzzle, a ported muzzle brake helps reduce airflow turbulence behind the projectile, contributing to improved shot stability and practical accuracy.

With a projected retail price below 100 euros, the Stoeger XRD22 and XRD17 position themselves as particularly attractive options for shooters seeking a versatile, modern, and affordable CO2 revolver.
