LionSTEEL KC-02, the knife of the Facebook Knife Community Italia

The new collaboration between LionSTEEL and the Knife Community Italia Facebook group is called KC-02 and comes in three handle colours.

A year ago, we told you about the LionSTEEL KC-01, a knife made as a limited edition, born from the collaboration between the Italian company, the Knife Community Italia Facebook group led by Raffaele Santoro and designer Michele Pensato "Molletta".

A little over twelve months later, here we are writing about KC-02, a new project born through the same process that gave birth to the first one, made up of proposals, consultations and voting, to give all members of the group the chance to create a blade perfect for their needs.

A group photo of the enthusiasts who came from all over Italy for the official presentation, held inside the company on 10 May.

Like last time, an event was organised at LionSTEEL for the official presentation of the second collaboration, during which the numerous fans from all over Italy were able to visit the factory.

Compared to the KC-01, which was designed to be a multi-role aircraft, the new KC-02 features a more compact footprint, making it ideal for lighter deployments, either alone or paired with its predecessor.

Compared to its predecessor, the latest design has a smaller footprint, making it more suitable for small precision work or light hiking.

The blade has a particularly robust drop point design, refined and made more original by a long false edge. The CPM 3V steel used for the first design has given way to MagnaCut, another sintered steel that certainly needs no introduction, as it is one of the best materials currently available, specially designed for knives.

The KC-02 also has a full tang with Micarta scales in a choice of three colours, fixed by screws and a section of steel exposed at the end of the handle, with the dual function of breaker and providing the lanyard hole. The handle has a slight curve that improves ergonomics without conditioning the user, who remains free to use the most convenient grip for each situation.

Once again, the supplied sheath consists of a Kydex body and a synthetic loop, with an additional retention strap which can be removed to replace it with a Tek-Lok attachment or other mounting systems.

As with the KC-01, the new model was made in a limited series of 300 pieces, all of which have already been sold.
