Laser Ammo: Dry Fire Reset Trigger for GLOCK pistols

The Dry Fire Reset Trigger kit
The Dry Fire Reset Trigger kit, manufactured by Swedish company KNT for Laser Ammo, includes a trigger, firing pin assembly and rebound spring.

As I’ve received a few requests asking for more information on how the self-resetting dry fire trigger for GLOCK pistols works, that I mentioned in my article and video covering Laser Ammo’s training system, I thought that I could elaborate a bit more on this accessory.

The trigger kit is manufactured by Swedish company KNT for Laser Ammo; its purpose is allow the user to dry fire continuously without having to pull back each time the slide to reset the trigger, and is vital for GLOCK pistol owners to properly train with the Laser Ammo system.

The Laser Ammo Dry Fire Reset Trigger in detail

But let's take a closer look at the Dry Fire Reset Trigger kit. The kit includes a complete trigger assembly, a firing pin assembly and two small rebound springs to activate the auto reset trigger function. It is compatible with most GLOCK pistols that employ the 17's trigger design, and is available in three versions, each for a GLOCK generation: Gen3 and below, Gen4, and Gen5. It is not compatible with GLOCK 43 pistols.

The Dry Fire Reset Trigger allows the shooter to experience the same trigger feedback as the original GLOCK Safe Action stock trigger, but in dry fire – at the same time reliably igniting Laser Ammo's Sure Strike cartridge, to turn the laser system training experience as realistic and dynamic as possible.

Installing the kit on a GLOCK pistol is not difficult, as it is within the reach of any shooter who also does by himself the routine maintenance of their gun; in fact, all it takes is a couple of minutes, replacing the stock Safe Action trigger with the Dry Fire Reset Trigger parts. Some components can be left out of the reassembly, such as the extractor and the hold open lever, since the SureStrike cartridge certainly does not need to be ejected (it has no rim!) and it is not even wise to slam forward the slide to close on the laser cartridge; even if very rugged, it still is a concentrate of miniaturized electronics and precision optics.

As I mentioned in my article presenting the Laser Ammo system, the Dry Fire Reset Trigger kit includes a specific firing pin for use with SureStrike ammunition, and should be used exclusively with the gun configured for Laser Ammo dry fire training; use with live ammunition is absolutely not recommended and considered highly dangerous by the manufacturer.

I made a video with all the necessary steps for the assembly of the Dry Fire Reset Trigger, always with the thought that a single video is worth a thousand written words!

The trigger is available all over Europe at a price of 221 euros for Gen 3 and 4 and 246 euros for Gen 5 guns, and can be purchased directly from the manufacturer's website.
