Now it's official: GLOCK is launching 3 new models with the G45, G17 Gen5 MOS and G19 Gen5 MOS in autumn 2018. But what distinguishes the brand new pistols of the popular manufacturer? We have already had a look at the new models from Austria. Discover the features and prices now.

A well-kept secret was made about the 3 new GLOCK pistol models, which will now extend the model range of the traditional manufacturer. GLOCK is already quite well positioned in the segment of polymer pistols. But after all, "the" manufacturer of polymer service pistols has continued to expand its range in recent years.

GLOCK now offers long sports models, full-size, compact and sub-compact sizes in the calibers .45 Auto, .45 GAP, 10 mm Auto, .40 S&W, .357 SIG, 9 mm Luger and .380 Auto. Such a large selection of polymer pistols is therefore unlikely to be available from any other manufacturer...

GLOCK 45 in 9 mm Luger: what distinguishes the new crossover pistol?

The brand new GLOCK 45 in 9 mm Luger combines the large grip of the G17 with the short slide of the G19 - just like the GLOCK 19X.

In addition, there are now also gripping grooves in the front area of the slide. A real plus for ergonomics...

Another new model is the Glock 45 in the universal caliber 9 mm Luger. Similar to the GLOCK 19X, the base consists of the G17's large grip, which has a magazine capacity of 17 rounds.

The grip of the brand new G45 is based on the Generation 5 version. So it comes without the finger grooves, which some shooters find advantageous. In return, it received a slightly funnelled magazine well, which facilitate the insertion of the magazine.

The slide catch lever on the G45 is also present on both sides, which makes operation easier for left-handers or in alternate mode with the strong or weak hand.

The GLOCK 45 and the G19X are really very similar. The most striking thing is the different colours.

While grip grooves in the front slide area could only be found on the limited special models G17 and 19 FS, GLOCK now seems to be making a change in its own policy. Thus the loading of the weapon, a possible jam clearing, or the check of the standby condition (pistol press check) can also be done from the front. The deep black and abrasion-resistant nDLC coating is also found on the Glock 45 slide.

In a nutshell: the new G45 has the firepower of the G17 with more compact dimensions, which has also been ergonomically upgraded. The compact crossover pistol impresses with all the advantages of the GLOCK Gen5 pistol models.

The new model G45 will be available from end of October 2018. The price for German customers will be 759 euro (RRP), while in other European countries the price may differ according to local pricing and VAT of your country. Please contact your local distributor for further information on price and availability.

Those familiar with the scene knew that GLOCK would sooner or later "upgrade" the G17 and 19 Gen4 MOS to Generation 5. With barrel lengths of 114 mm (G17) and 102 mm (G19) and magazine capacities of 17 and 15 rounds respectively, these are probably the new bestsellers from GLOCK.

By the way, the abbreviation MOS stands for Modular Optic System. In concrete terms, this means that the GLOCK pistol models in the MOS configuration have a special mounting system so that small mini-dot sights can be mounted directly on the slide. For this purpose, 4 adapter plates ensure the simple and easy mounting of MRDS (Mini Red Dot Sight) such as the Docter Sight models I to III, GECO Open Red Dot, Vortex-Venom, EOTech, Insight, Meopta, Trijicon RMR, C-More, Leupold Delta (Pro).

The gripping grooves in the slide front area can now be found on the new G17 and 19 Gen5 MOS pistols too. The usual attributes of the Gen5 - the absence of finger grooves on the grip, the funnel-shaped magazine well and the smoother trigger - are of course also present here. The two GLOCK bestsellers have thus been upgraded even further. Now they are really fit for the fiercely contested market of polymer pistols, which are also increasingly finding their way into the sports sector.

The G17 and G19 Gen5 MOS models will cost 874 euro in Germany and will also be available from end of October 2018. As mentioned before, prices and availability may vary depending on your distributor and country of origin.
