One of the trends that emerged at SHOT Show 2026 was SBRs (short-barreled rifles), which also includes pistols with stocks and conversion kits. SBRs are now much more popular after the US administration eliminated the $200 tax on this category of guns. It's no surprise then that Ruger is now offering short-barreled rifle versions of the PC Carbine, 10/22 and Ruger American Rifle Generation II.
Ruger PC Carbine SBR

Let's start with the PC Carbine. Sporting a very “tacticool” look, the 9mm PC Carbine SBR variant comes with a black synthetic chassis, a six-position telescoping Magpul stock, and a CNC-milled aluminum free-float handguard with attachment slots on all four sides and a removable M-LOK hand stop. The short6.5”/165 mm cold hammer-forged barrel is threaded 1/2"-28 (a thread protector is included). Magazine wells are interchangeable for use of common Ruger and Glock magazines: the model ships with the SR-Series/Security-9 pistol magazine well installed, along with one 17-round SR-Series or Security-9 9mm magazine. An additional magazine well that accepts most double-stack Glock-pattern magazines is also included. Magazine release and charging handle are reversible. Price in the US is $1099.
Ruger 10/22 SBR

Two 10/22 SBR models are available, with 8”/203 mm or 10”/254 barrel respectively. Both models feature a reversible folding stock with adjustable length of pull, a factory installed Picatinny rail and a 1/2"-28 threaded cold hammer-forged barrel. The BX-Trigger provides a crisp 1.1-1.3 kg pull weight with short overtravel and positive reset. The match bolt release allows you to easily advance the bolt with a quick pull and release to the rear. In the 8” 10/22 SBR variant the receiver has an integrated rear cleaning port for easy maintenance. The 10” model is a takedown rifle and the barrel is tensioned inside an aluminum alloy sleeve for enhanced rigidity and accuracy. Mag capacity is 15 rounds and, needless to say, caliber is .22 LR. Prices are $649 for the 8” 10/22 SBR and $799 for the 10” variant.
Ruger American Gen II SBR

The Ruger American Gen II SBR is a variant of the Patrol series that we already introduced here. The highlight is that the new SBR comes with a short bull contour 12.5”/317 mm threaded barrel. In common with the previous Patrol models, it features a splatter finished stock. Removing the installed spacer allows for length of pull to be adjusted from 13.75" to 12" and additional spacers of varying sizes for a more refined fit are available. Different comb options are available too. Priced in the US at $869, the Ruger American Gen II Patrol SBR is chambered in .338 ARC and ships with one 5-round AR-style magazine, but variants in additional calibers are already under development.
