Produced in the United States by SureFire, the X400-GN Ultra offers a combo of a 500-lumens white Led tactical light and a 5mW (505 nm) laser sight/emitter. Most green laser sights are DPSS (diode-pumped solid-state)-based, meaning that their native light color is IR and is turned green through a complex optical structure and the use of expensive laser crystals; this system requires high power levels − causing faster battery consumption − and is hindered by extreme temperatures, so that it would stop working if the outside temperature exceeds the maximum and minimum operational limits. The X400-GN Ultra features a totally native green laser diode as source, exhibiting none of these drawbacks. It can be installed on any MIL-STD-1913 “Picatinny” rails, being thus suitable on both handguns and long guns, and activates either via its integral toggle switch or through an optional plug-in remote switch.
