A powerful package: Springfield Armory introduces the new Saint Victor 5.56 Pistol

With an 11.5-inch CMV barrel, Springfield Armory's new Saint Victor 5.56 Pistol is specifically designed for close-quarters complementing the Saint Victor 9mm Pistol already introduced a couple of months ago. The latest addition maintains a compact form but in a more powerful package – the same adjustable SB Tactical SB-A3 stabilizing brace already seen on the 9mm model provides for stability. The overall length of 70 cm (78 cm with brace fully extended) and calibre are however more akin to a carbine than a “pistol”, regardless of law's abstruseness and how these designations are applied in today's marketing world.

Springfield Armory Saint Victor 5.56 Pistol with carbine-length gas system

Springfield Armory Saint Victor 5.56 Pistol
Springfield Armory Saint Victor 5.56 Pistol is a powerful and compact gun – also thanks to its adjustable SB Tactical SB-A3 stabilizing brace. It comes factory with flip-up sights.
The free-float M-Lok handguard
Upper and lower receivers of the SA Saint Victor 5.56 Pistol are made from forged 7075 T6 aluminium. The free-float M-Lok handguard is also aluminium.

Springfield Armory Saint Victor 5.56 Pistol uses a direct impingement carbine-length gas system for full reliability and features a free-float aluminium handguard with SA locking tabs and M-Lok accessory slots. The low-profile pinned gas block is adjustable. A full-length top Picatinny rail guarantees plenty of space for the mounting of scopes or electro-optical sights – in any case, the Saint Victor Pistol comes factory with a set of flip-up mechanical sights. Both the upper and lower receivers are made from forged 7075 T6 Aluminium, Type III and Hardcoat Anodized. The upper is complete with forward assist and M4 feed ramps. The enhanced M16-style bolt carrier group uses an 9310 steel bolt, High Pressure Tested and Magnetic Particle Inspected (HPT/MPI). The flat-type nickel boron-coated trigger is single stage. Barrel has a Melonite finish and end in a A2 flash hider.

Springfield Armory Saint Victor Pistols
Springfield Armory Saint Victor Pistols: the 5.56 model (back, top) and the 9mm model (front, bottom). The 5.56 Pistol uses a 30 round magazine, the 9mm a 32-round magazine.

The SB Tactical SBA3 stabilizing brace has a minimalist design and integral ambidextrous QD sling socket. In terms of ergonomics, the B5 Systems pistol grip is characterised by a steep angle and extended tang for improved comfort. Safety switch is a 45-degree type and ambidextrous.

Priced in the US at $1,150 (MSRP), the Springfield Armory 5.56 Saint Victor Pistol comes with a 30-round Magpul PMAG Gen M3 magazine.
