New 2023 Spec Series pistol from Smith & Wesson Performance Center

In these last weeks of 2023, Smith & Wesson drops the 2023 Spec Series pistol, a full size, all-metal, striker-fired 9mm gun built on the M&P metal chassis, but refined by the Smith & Wesson Performance Center.

The 2023cSpec Series pistol is a full size, all-metal, striker-fired 9mm gun built on the M&P metal chassis. Finish is OD green Cerakote with black accents.

The 4.8"/122 mm threaded barrel with attached Faxon designed compensator, distinctive OD green Cerakote finish, Performance Center metal trigger, optics-cut slide with aggressive serrations and lightening cuts already declare its “spec” status. Frame is aluminum alloy.

From the appreciated M&P models, the 2023 Spec Series carries over the optimal 18-degree grip angle for a natural point of aim and the enhanced grip texture that allows the user to manage recoil while keeping a firm grip.

Smith & Wesson 2023 Spec Series, a complete package right out of the box

The S&W 2023 Spec Series slide is optics-cut and features aggressive serrations and lightening cuts.

“The 2023 Spec Series by Smith & Wesson marks the fourth installment of the annual iconic special releases. However, what sets this year's edition apart is that it stands as the inaugural iteration from Smith & Wesson's esteemed Performance Center,” says the manufacturer. With a wide range of accessories and pluses, the Smith & Wesson 2023 Spec Series pistol comes in a custom insert case as a complete package, including two 17-round and two 23-round magazines, three sizes of interchangeable backstraps, a limited edition fixed full-tang karambit-style curved knife with a belt holster and, like every iteration of the Spec Series, an exclusive M&P challenge coin.

The 4.8"/122 mm threaded barrel of the 2023 Spec Series with attached Faxon designed compensator. Sights are suppressor-height for co-witnessing (when a red dot is mounted) or use with a suppressor.

Being optimized for accessory mounting and performance, of particular interest in the 2023 Spec Series is S&W's C.O.R.E. system for mounting red dots, and suppressor-height sights for co-witnessing or use with a suppressor.

The Smith & Wesson 2023 Spec Series pistol comes in a custom insert case with two 17-round and two 23-round magazines, three sizes of interchangeable backstraps, a limited edition fixed full-tang karambit-style curved knife with belt holster, and an exclusive M&P challenge coin.

The already mentioned thread-on compensator designed by Faxon in partnership with Smith & Wesson ensured a reduction in felt recoil, as well as less muzzle flip, which is conductive to faster follow-up shots and good target acquisition.

With an aggressive design, the slide features lightening cuts to decrease weight and improve reliability while being compensated.

In the U.S., the Smith & Wesson 2023 Spec Series pistol will bring an MSRP of $999.
