An early Christmas present: somewhat unexpectedly, GLOCK USA just released a preview of the long-awaited Gen6 pistols that will be available starting from January 20th, 2026. And the new models are laden with interesting features and ergonomic improvements: starting from the frame with palm swell, extended thumb rest and enlarged beavertail – all designed for a better grip, such as the (also new) Gen6 grip texture on an extended surface area that combines two textures into one for performance and comfort. The specially developed RTF6 texture that combines RTF2 and RTF4 patterns in fact now provides even more coverage of the pistol, including new areas like the thumb rest.
Front and back slide serrations have been improved too, being now angled deeper into the slide to make the surface engagement more tactile for slide manipulations. The slide-stop lever now has an enlarged border, while the more aggressively undercut trigger guard and the reduced distance from the frame to the trigger allow for a higher grip and easier reach for a variety of users.
Mechanically, the Gen6 uses a single captive recoil spring assembly, like older GLOCKs. The Gen6 barrels, due to a new chamfering and different geometry, won't be compatible with previous generations either.

The guys at GLOCK say that they analyzed and measured hands of all shapes and sizes, so that the new generation of GLOCK pistols bring key ergonomic advancements including a flat faced trigger design.
A new optic-ready system is on board too: standard frame GLOCK Gen6 pistols feature a unique system engineered for adaptability and durability with three optic plates that allow various optics to be screwed directly into the slide. (RMR and DPP footprints are accepted.)
Besides the pistol itself, each GLOCK Gen6 set will come with 2 magazines, magazine speed loader, cleaning set (rod with patch holder and brush), user's manual, case for storage and transport, backstrap set (2mm and 4mm) and adapter plates
The Gen6 will initially include the G17, G19, G45 and G49 models, all in 9mm caliber.
