Oberland Arms Convention 2025: a four-year success story

We recently showed you the brand new flagship store that Oberland Arms has opened in Klagenfurt, Austria, and now here we are again telling you about the Bavarian manufacturer and our participation in the OA Convention 2025 on 12 and 13 July. The event is the same one we reported on in 2023, namely the annual trade fair that the company organises at its headquarters in the pretty town of Huglfing.

The public success of this fourth edition has once again confirmed the validity of the format chosen by Matthias Hainich, CEO of Oberland Arms: a small-scale event, where it is only possible to exhibit by invitation, during which visitors have the opportunity to have direct contact with the companies, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, far removed from the hustle and bustle of large trade fairs.

We will not go into a boring list of all the brands present: in the photo gallery below you can find at least one image of each of the exhibiting companies. We prefer to cut to the chase and tell you what you could see at the convention and why you might consider attending next year's edition.

During the event, the new version with monolithic handle of the SEPP - Oberland Arms' successful folding knife made by LionSTEEL of Maniago - was presented to the public.
Nakatanenga 4x4 Equipment is a German company that deals in fittings and accessories for demanding off-road use, with a focus on the legendary Land Rover Defender.
Sleipnir Precision displayed this rifle made entirely in Germany (except for the Canadian trigger): GS LRC model stock, HST A30S action, Sinus Tuner Brake and Leica PRS 5-30x56 I optic.
JAC Camo Systems manufactures these attractive camouflage covers for weapons and equipment, featuring quick-release collars that allow them to be turned around by changing camouflage patterns.
Cerakote's German subsidiary was present at Huglfing. Oberland Arms often uses their products, both for series models and for customisations offered by the in-house Custom Shop.
Here is an example of a very unusual customisation made by Oberland. More and more sport shooters are choosing to carry guns with an unusual look.
The new Oberland Arms Sharp II red dot has the same footprint as the AimPoint Acro, compared to which it is lower and offers a wider window. It has two reticles: Dot and Circle Dot.
The OA Sharp II is not designed for handguns only: interfaces of different heights for mounting on long guns are being studied. Here is a 3D-printed prototype.
At the Schmidt & Bender booth, a new 3-18x42 Meta scope with SBX reticle on the first focal plane and various technical improvements, was on display.
This picture shows Schmidt & Bender's SBX reticle in detail, designed for hunters and long-range shooters, with a central cross optimised for shooting at any magnification.
MK Unit has devised a system to couple the short magazines of the AUG and restore the feel of the original weapon. A similar accessory is also available for Glock magazines.
Pol-Tec, sole distributor for Germany of Accuracy International showcased the excellent AXSR, multi-caliber platform in 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win, .300 Win Mag and .338 Lapua Mag at its booth.
This red Glock 19 seen at the RWS stand, one of the distributors for Germany, is the "R" or "Reset" version: an inert training gun which differs from the "P" versions in that the trigger resets automatically after each pull.
Among the equipment manufactured by Tactical Bear, we have chosen to show you the protective covers and cases for the highly popular Garmin Xero C1 Pro chronograph, which also accommodate the tripod.
Here is the Okie Special from Alpin Precision: Impact Precision 737R action, Custom Rifle Barrels barrel n 6mm Dasher, Foundation Stocks Micarta stock, Bix'n Andy TacSport Pro trigger, ACE muzzle brake, Harris bipod, Zero Compromise 840 scope.
The Oberland Convention 2025 was the occasion for the European premiere of the very interesting new ACE adjustable trigger from Canadian TriggerTech, designed for Glocks.

At the Strasser stand we saw this RS700 bolt-action rifle: Remington 700 compatible action, MDT HNT26 stock, Timney Elite Hunter trigger, DD Optics NXT 2-20x scope on a prototype mount made by Dentler, Bone bipod also made by Strasser.
The UG-Tools Tiny Floe won Overall Knife Of The Year and Imported Fixed Blade Of The Year at the last Blade Show in Atlanta. The blade is made of 64-65 HRC Magnacut, the handle is 3D-printed titanium.
Umarex, Hawke's distributor for Germany, showed us the Endurance 30 1-4x24 riflescope with Tactical Dot reticle, a model that is enjoying great success.

The RWS stand featured a wide selection of RWS and Geco brand cartridges, illustrating the many solutions the company offers hunters and sport shooters.
Among the many items on the Steinadler stand, we chose the Bug-A-Salt, a cute salt-gun designed to eliminate household pests without doing any damage.

Pro Legal is an association that has been fighting for the protection of the rights of German legal gun owners since 2009.

Once again this year, the event had a central hall, where the guns were displayed, and an outdoor area where the stands of the other exhibitors were arranged. In the former there was of course the space dedicated to Oberland Arms, with a large representation of its rifles, some of which were made unique by the OA Custom Shop, the company's own guns and a large number of accessories. At the other stands it was possible to admire a little bit of everything, especially rifles and accessories dedicated to precision shooting, as well as some products for professional use, usually unknown to the civilian audience. Outside, it was possible to lose oneself among high-end buffets, the best of gun accessories and off-road vehicles that could make any enthusiast's head spin.

But the real reason for the success of the two-day event in Bavaria are the people: Matthias Hainich's initiative has managed to bring together a community of operators and enthusiasts who at each edition meet in an atmosphere of sharing and camaraderie in which ranks, company roles and nationalities disappear between a technical discussion and a glass of beer, from which not infrequently friendships destined to last emerge.

We will say no more, leaving you free to enjoy the generous collection of images we brought home from our trip to Germany, hoping to see you in Huglfing next year.
