Take a .22 Ruger MK IV 22/45 pistol frame, thread in a stainless steel barrel with removable forward blow compensator housed within an aluminum sleeve, add a competition bolt and complete with an accurizing kit and Hogue grips – et voila, here it is: the new Volquartsen Lightweight Stingray.
In the past, Volquartsen already offered a “Stingray” conversion based on Ruger's .22 pistols: with a very futuristic look, it would have fitted nicely in any 1960s/1970s science fiction movie and was – actually, still is – pretty popular among enthusiasts.
Now in a revised version, the iconic design is available again – with Volquartsen's latest lightweight technology and in a distinctive Bronze Battleworn Cerakote finish.
Volquartsen Lightweight Stingray, maximum durability

As you can infer from the name, the new Lightweight Stingray has been engineered “to deliver uncompromising accuracy without the weight”: it actually stops the scales at 879 g. The 6”/152 mm stainless steel barrel features a laser-hardened breech for maximum durability (exceeding 100,000 rounds, according to the manufacturer), housed in a lightweight aluminum sleeve. The barrel is 1/2x28 threaded and comes factory with a removable forward blow compensator.

The Ruger MK IV 22/45 frame has also been retrofitted and upgraded with Volquartsen's own accurizing kit that provides a crisp, clean and light 2.25 lb/1,020 g trigger pull.
A push-button takedown has been added. A top Picatinny rail allow for the mounting of optics. The MK IV receiver is drilled and tapped too.
The Volquartsen Lightweight Stingray comes with two 10-rounds magazines and an MSRP of $1,495. It is now available for preorder and is estimated to ship within 5-7 weeks.
