Vision Pro chassis: from Norway, the Formula 1 for PRS shooting

The Precision Rifle Series (PRS) is a shooting sport that has grown in popularity in recent years among long-range rifle shooting enthusiasts. This sport involves the use of rifles to hit targets at varying distances, often in adverse environmental conditions and over difficult terrain. Shooters must demonstrate not only their marksmanship skills, but also the ability to quickly adapt to unforeseen situations and manage their equipment efficiently. PRS competitions are characterised by different scenarios and shooting stations, each with a unique set of tactical and technical challenges. The sport requires not only accuracy, but also physical and mental endurance, as shooters often have to move quickly between stations. For this sport, the rifle stock is of great importance, since the different positions in which the shooter shoots, often in contact with artificial barricades, require contact and support points between the rifle and barricade that are essential for successful hits. The most suitable stocks for this sport are so-called chassis where the front section of the stock is a rigid frame, usually made of aluminum. This type of configuration is ideal for increasing the stability and accuracy of the shot, offering the shooter a more robust and customisable platform. The chassis can include adjustable features such as the cheek rest and stock length, allowing the rifle to be adapted to the shooter's specific needs.

Vision Pro Chassis, the versatile and complete PRS shooting stock

Vision & Design is a small company located in south-west Norway, specialising in the production of top-quality rifle chassis stocks. All stocks in their catalogue are 100% designed, manufactured and assembled in-house, by a team of technicians and craftsmen, most of whom are passionate sport shooters themselves.

For the time being, four chassis variants are part of the Vision Pro catalog, of which the Vision Pro model is the top of the range. This aluminum and titanium chassis can accommodate Remington 700 or Tikka T3 short actions with barrels up to 34.3 millimeters in diameter, and will soon be available for other actions too.

The Vision Pro chassis can accommodate various accessories including weights using both proprietary attachment points and universal attachment methods such as M-LOK, ARCA, RRS-Lock, QD cups, Area 419’s ARCALOCK and more.

The surface finish of the Vision Pro Chassis is a mix of Cerakote-coated parts (center section, stock, fore-end and top covers) while all the smaller parts (brackets, rear rest, grips, etc.) are anodized. As the suffix Pro suggests, this stock represents the evolution of a previous model, compared to which it is even more adaptable to the user's needs and presents some absolute novelties, starting with the fore-end, which has been lengthened (it is 480 millimeters long) and now features a more extensive M-Lok accessory interface and also the new V-Lock system. On the sides of the fore-end runs a slide to which it is possible to add counterweights of up to 1 kg and to change the buoyancy of the rifle. On the underside, the full-length Arca Swiss rail allows the rifle to be positioned on a tripod with extreme precision. At the front of the fore-end there are quick-detach sling mounts, on both sides. On the inside of the fore-end there are a number of solid-milled bridges that help to make the fore-end extremely rigid, preventing it from bending or twisting. On the other hand, the two long surfaces of the fore-end that flank the barrel are drilled to allow the mounting of bridge attachments for accessories and additional optics. Alternatively, it is possible to attach the upper section to the fore-end to cover the barrel, thus bringing the overall weight from 2.15 to 2.36 kg (approximate values).

One of the many features on the Vision Pro chassis’ unique designs is that the buttstock can accommodate internal and external weights in three different locations, allowing for precise tuning in weight and balance for the shooter.

In the central part of the chassis we find a large barricade stop which also serves as a magazine well (the magazine well itself is compatible with AICS, AW and AX models) and features an internal magazine length adjustment system. The oversized magazine release is located behind the trigger guard, is ambidextrous and adjustable in height.

The grip is vertical, compatible with AR-15 type grips and, thanks to the two removable and repositionable thumb rests on the sides of the chassis, allows for optimisation of the hand position. The trigger guard has a large circular opening in its lower flat part that allows the trigger screw to be adjusted.

The rear part of the chassis, i.e. the buttstock, is 330 millimeters long and allows all the adjustments desirable on a PRS rifle, starting with the cheek rest and the recoil pad, down to the lower support for the sandbag.

The chassis moving parts run on internal guides that make adjustments smooth and contribute to the great rigidity of the assembly, which once tightened prevents any play. All screws included in the chassis have anti-vibration washers that prevent them from loosening under the stresses of firing.

Vision's Vulcan adjustable muzzle brake

Vision's Vulcan muzzle brake has five adjustable ports that allow its effect to be matched to the type of ammunition being used.

Vision Pro Design has also come up with a revolutionary muzzle brake for large-caliber rifles, dubbed the Vulcan. The difference between the Vulcan brake and all other brakes on the market is the row of five adjustable ports on top of the brake. These ports are in connection with the blast chamber placed before the actual recoil reducing chambers. This is made to first counter the muzzle rise before the gas goes on to reduce recoil. Adjustable ejection ports are designed to counter and therefore eliminate all or as much as possible of the muzzle rise, very commonly experienced when shooting with a brake. This again helps the shooter better track the bullet and release the next shot faster thanks to the scope still being in the near proximity of the engaged target. Instead of having all the ports open at all times, we made it possible to adjust them using set screws to allow the shooter to fine tune the recoil depending on what ammunition is being fired.

The Vulcan brake is precision machined from 17-4PH stainless steel and all threads are manually checked by our staff to ensure they are within the required specifications. Once the brake is finished, every single one of them spends 24 hours in a polishing tumbler to accomplish the best finish possible. All sharp edges are deburred in the machine to achieve a clean and nice-to-handle product. The Vulcan muzzle brake weighs 128 grams and has an outer diameter of 28 mm. The first batch of brakes will be available in the following calibers: 6 mm/.243, 6.5 mm/.264, 7.62 mm/.30.

The Vision Pro Chassis chassis has already won over several PRS shooting champions around the world and this year the Norwegian company will be present at the SHOT Show 2025 thanks to its local distributor GCP Rifle Co, which produces excellent bolt actions for sport, tactical and hunting shooting (stand 4150).
